Reed Property and Construction are working with a government organisation looking to recruit a Senior Ecology officer.In this role you will be providing ecology expertise, including assessment of ecology survey reports and assessment of their supporting BNG calculations, to support the determination of planning applications and pre-application advice.You will be working as part of a multi-disciplinary team, with other specialist officers, to achieve the best outcome for nature as part of delivering and achieving the council’s requirements for delivering the homes and jobs that are needed in the district.What will you be doingYour contribution will be vital to the successful determination of major planning applications:• Youll provide advice in relation to ecology matters to support development management function in a timely, fair, and consistent way from the pre-application stage, through to the formal planning application and post application stage• In this role you will undertake site visits as necessary. The role may also include assistance in planning enforcement matters relating to ecology issues• You will have consideration of Environmental Impact Assessments and assessment of ecological information therein.• Contribute to the ongoing work within the Council on Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) and the development of our Local Nature Recovery Strategy.• Youll provide support and advice to senior managers, colleagues, and elected Councillors with regard to ecology in relation to our planning applicationsFor this role the successful candidateMust be educated to degree level or equivalent in Ecology or a related natural environmental subjectMembership of ACIEEM or higher• You must be able to demonstrate e relevant experience in applying ecological principles within a planning context• It is essential that you have a clear understanding of planning policy and legislation relating to ecology and other nature conservation/biodiversity issues• You will have experience using DEFRA’s biodiversity net gain metric and writing BNG plans.This role will offer genuine flexibility to help them achieve that work/life balance.• The client are recognised for the quality, breadth and depth of our training and development offer, which helps make the greatest long-term difference in work.• As part of our benefits package, you will receive generous annual leave (pro rata), employee wellbeing support and you will have access to a range of staff discounts, including eye tests, travel, shopping and leisure activitiesInterested Please email your CV to or call me on
