Job Description

Good Afternoon, we are currently recruiting for Senior Data Insights Officers to work for Avon and Somerset Police at their headquarters in Portishead, Bristol.This role is until October 2024 working Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm and will be blended working.Role Purpose isTo support and enhance organisational management information systems, including the compliance and timely and accurate production of statistics and reports to inform insight and decision making at all levels, both within and external to the organisationPLEASE NOTE DUE TO POLICE VETTING CRITERIA YOU MUST HAVE RESIDED WITHIN THE UK CONTINUOUSLY AT THE TIME OF APPLICATION FOR AT LEAST 5 YEARSMain Responsibilities

  • Providing professional advice and interpretation of management information, both at a corporate and departmental level.
  • Managing the provision (specification, creation and publication) of management information to the organisation and other agencies including regular, adhoc and statutory reports.Supporting research projects and presenting the findings both internally andexternally as appropriate.
  • Oversee the provision of ad hoc and ongoing data requests in line with customer requirements and in support of scheduled inspections and support the Constabulary in meeting its statutory reporting requirements, including Freedom of Information requests
  • To act as subject matter expert in the structure of our data
  • Work with the lead developer to identify, scope and deliver improvements to data collection methods across Performance and Insight to better inform reporting within the constabulary.
  • To collate, process and analyse data, both numerical and qualitative, using a variety of statistical techniques, computer databases and to present data as appropriate
  • Maintain own understanding of current best practice in analytical and data techniques Contribute in developing the effective use of data visualisation to assist in developing relevant force information systems and ensure data quality.
  • Performing data standards and quality management and guiding the team members. Contributing flexibly across the range of unit functions and activities, which may include working with other functions within the department.
  • Motivate, develop and performance manage a team of professionals in order to raise their capability, ensure they deliver quality services to ASC and enable them to reach their objectives. Mentor less experienced colleagues in the team to help maintain standardsand raise capability within the team.
ESSENTIAL CRITERIA
  • The post requires considerable knowledge and experience in the use of Reporting/Management Information systems
  • Advanced numerical and analysis skills required for the input, retrieval and manipulation of statistical and other data / information obtained from a variety of sources.
  • Ability to communicate at all levels
  • Able to meet deadlines, prioritise workloads and work independently
  • Detail focused with a concern for accuracy
  • Analytical and problem solving skills
  • Previous leadership or supervisory experience
