This 12 month OOPT post in Cardiology is available at the Bristol Adult Congenital Heart Disease Unit, which is a specialised centre for adults with congenital heart disease within the Bristol Heart Institute (BHI). The BHI provides secondary and tertiary cardiac services in a purpose built environment. We have 3 cardiology wards, 4 dedicated catheterisation labs, a full range of imaging facilities and full cardiac surgical programme. We provide congenital heart services for approximately 6 million people throughout the south-west of England with additional interventional services for south Wales. Our team consists of 4 full-time ACHD Consultant Cardiologists and 1 additional Congenital Cardiologists with a mixed paediatric and adult practice. We have 3 congenital cardiac surgeons, a further 6 paediatric cardiologists, 3 specialist ACHD nurses, an MDT co-ordinator and full admin support. The unit is closely linked with adult cardiac services and the Bristol Royal Hospital for Children. This post is a nationally recognised post for subspecialty training in adult congenital heart disease (ACHD). It is suitable for an existing specialty registrar who has completed ST3-ST5 cardiology training or cardiology trainees without a national training number (NTN) who wish to specialize in the care of adult patients with congenital heart disease, either in a district general hospital or a specialist centre. Skills in basic cardiac catheterisation and echocardiography are expected and skills in transoesophageal echocardiography would be advantageous. There will also be work in the cath lab, in obstetric cardiology, imaging and on the general cardiology specialty trainee on call rota if this training is required. There are excellent opportunities for training and research. For further details / informal visits contact:NameRadwa BedairAdditional contact informationDr Radwa Bedair (Radwa.bedair@uhbw.nhs.uk)
