Job Description

Job Title: Senior BuyerLocation: Stoke Gifford, Bristol + Hybrid Working ArrangementCompensation: Competitive + BenefitsRole Type: Full time / 40-week Fixed Term Contract Role ID: SF53222At Babcock were working to create a safe and secure world, together, and if you join us, you can play your part as a Senior Buyer at our Technology Centre in Bristol.The roleAs a Senior Buyer youll have a role thats out of the ordinary. As our business continues to grow at a significant pace were looking for talented, enthusiastic and driven people to join or procurement team and help take us to new heights.Day to day, youll:

  • Convert purchase requisitions to purchase orders and issue to suppliers, negotiating appropriate T&Cs for the protection of the organisation
  • Manage and develop supplier relationships
  • Carry out pro-active supplier order book management activities
  • Provide support and escalation routes for members of the team
  • Support the Project Procurement Manager in operational and strategic requirements
This role is full-time, 37-hours per week , offered on a 40-week fixed term contract basis with hybrid working options. There may be a requirement to travel within the UK at times.Essential experience of the Senior Buyer:
  • Must have a flexible approach to workload, confident reading and understanding technical drawings and ability to communicate complex requirements to/from supply chain.
  • Ability to establish strong relationships with key stakeholders across the business
  • Must have a good understanding of complex manufacturing processes and principles
  • Must be self-motivated with a flexible approach to workload
  • A good understanding of the Company business and objectives
  • Working knowledge of and experience in Microsoft Excel, Word, Power point
Qualifications for the Senior Buyer:
  • A recognised degree level qualification and/or relevant engineering/supply chain/lean culture experience.
  • Membership of a relevant professional body e.g. CIPS at level4 or above
  • Demonstratable procurement experience, ideally in an operational procurement environment
  • Experience in sourcing new materials and services
The successful candidate must be able to achieve SC security clearance for this role.Our Benefits
