Job Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join an international law firms office in Bristol. The role entails working in the AML defence line to protect the firm from risks associated with new business. Additionally, you will have the chance to support anddevelop the skills of junior members of the function.Role Requirements:

  • Management of requests for CDD checks.
  • Liaising with Lawyers to obtain information about the client and matter.
  • Drafting and reviewing CDD reports, cogently setting out your findings and conclusions.
  • Escalating matters where required to, Risk or the MLRO with practical solutions for resolution.
  • Managing own workload, chasing where needed to ensure CDD is progressing.
  • Advising on ongoing monitoring of clients/matters per legal/regulatory requirements.
  • Ensuring EDD and other CDD records are kept up to date.
  • Reviewing, where necessary, prospective clients to ensure any reputational or sanctions issues are understood, and are deemed within the firms risk appetite.
  • Leading periodic team training sessions.
  • Day-to-day management of the AML Analyst team, and be an escalation point for the team on more complex instructions.
  • Providing ongoing technical guidance and support to other members of the team.
  • Working closely with other stakeholders concerning client onboarding processes, and contributing ideas designed to ensure compliance with relevant legislation.

  • Confident and able communicator with strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Well-organised and efficient, with good attention to detail.
  • Hardworking, enthusiastic, and motivated.
  • Commercially aware, with an understanding of the need for efficient working.
  • Strong knowledge of the Money Laundering Regulations 2017 (and its amendments), the EU Money Laundering Directives, the Law Society of Singapores Practice Direction on the Prevention of Money Laundering and Financing of Terrorism and the Law Society ofHong Kongs Practice Direction P (or a willingness to acquire such knowledge).
  • Ability to liaise closely with senior stakeholders, and talk confidently about AML compliance issues, including matter partners.
