Job Description

World Class Defence Organisation based in Bristol (The role will be a mixture of Working from Home and Onsite) is currently looking to recruit a Security Vetting Support Officer / Security Controller Subcontractor on an initial 12 month contract.Contract Duration: 12 Months (initially and then ongoing thereafter)Hourly Rate: £26.10phSecurity Controller / Vetting OfficerAn exciting opportunity has arisen to work within the dynamic and vibrant environment of security vetting. This is a critical business area that supports the management of security-vetted personnel to work within the organization. You and the team will bethe first layer of security in ensuring any personnel risks are identified and managed. In addition, you will be required to support the Personnel Security Manager in the successful implementation of the Vetting Strategy.

  • Part of a wider support mechanism that enables us to conduct our business
  • Complete and record accurately all right to work and identity checks
  • Inputting in a timely and accurately manner, data into a 3rd party provider portal to minimize delays in completion of clearances
  • Support HR, Procurement and Recruitment in obtaining BPSS and security clearances for new employees
  • Support the team in achieving its objectives and reducing risk to the organization
  • Be point of contact for stakeholders on vetting enquiries
  • Liaise with UKSV and other external agencies when appropriate
  • Monitor external IT platform to obtain and update security clearances.
Skillset/experience required:Essential:
  • Experience of pre-employment background checks and national security vetting process
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Customer service experience
  • Excellent work ethic, motivated and enthusiastic
  • Professional meticulous approach with focus on accuracy
  • Ability to work as part of a team and within the wider security department
  • Able to work under pressure and prioritise work as required
  • IT competent and willing to learn new systems
  • Can do positive attitude
  • Able to act in the strictest of confidence with personal sensitive data - integrity is paramount
  • Must be able to obtain national security vetting and BPSS
  • Ability to challenge, negotiate and problem solve when required
  • Willingness to learn new standards and processes to apply best practice security
Desirable:
  • Experience of HMG BPSS, UKSV and IPSA
  • Experience and knowledge of Protective Security within MOD and defense industry
  • Relevant vetting qualification or industry experience
  • Awareness and knowledge of recruitment and onboarding processes for defence industry
  • Personnel Security awareness for the ongoing aftercare of security cleared staff
  • Presentational experience for the delivery of training
  • Knowledge of risk management for the maintenance of security checks and clearances
