Job Description

£16.11 per hourTemporary - 12 months29.6 hours per week - 4 days per week, working a mixture of 06:30am-14:30pm, 08:00 am - 16:00pm and 09:30am - 17:30pm.Hybrid working - office in central Bristol Tate are working with a local authority in their search for a School Travel Officer on a part time basis.You would play an integral role in coordinating the Home to School Travel Service, taking direct responsibility for a designated number of schools and ensuring the organisation and smooth running of the service and staff who escort pupils between home andschool.Key responsibilities include:

  • To organise and supervise a group of travel assistants, ensuring that they are supported and safe in their working environment.
  • To ensure that all routes are covered, staff are aware of the risk and any complexities that may arise with individual pupils and routes.
  • Be a point of contact for the service and ensure advice and support is available to parents, school staff and escorts.
  • Resolve complex issues including complaints and enquiries from SEND.
  • Investigate and report any health and safety concerns on routes, liaise with other stakeholders to put appropriate strategies in place.
  • Devising and implementing risk assessments for pupils and communicate with parents, schools, social workers etc.
  • Dealing with and resolving routing or staffing issues.
  • Ensure that all details of routes and costs are properly recorded on the software to enable accurate information for forecasting and planning.
Skills / experience:
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
  • Excellent telephone manner and communication skills
  • Able to work effectively under pressure
  • Experience of coordinating / supervising employees
