Job Description Replatforming Developer - An exciting opportunity for one experienced developer to join a relatively new team, to migrate current applications to a cloud environment! The role will be joining a relatively new team moving current applications to a cloud environment. The purpose of this role is to have a role in the migration of ASP.NET and SQL Server applications to Azure App services and Azure SQL by applying your experience and technical knowledge into developing this new stage of the business. This role will help contribute to the modernisation of the application into key separate areas to help manage the complexity of it leading to defined interfaces. Bringing in best practice around various design and architectural patterns, refactoring legacycode and implementing and bedding automated testing platforms and unit tests. Key Responsibilities:
  • Supporting role in the migration to Azure and modernisation of existing applications.
  • Design, write, maintain reusable and reliable code
  • Test code to develop scalable and robust solutions, which meet the high performance and availability standards.
  • Making code changes and unit testing of the code
  • Help to identify, investigate bottlenecks, bugs and problems, and determine the best solution to address the issue. Involving key stakeholders as and when required.
  • Integrate database storage solutions

Essential Skills:
  • Experience in migrating ASP.NET applications to Microsoft Azure (Web apps, Azure SQL)
  • Strong knowledge of ASP.NET web framework (Web Forms and Web API)
  • Strong programmer who consistently delivers tight, finely crafted code
  • Proficient in C# and/or VB.NET
  • Proficient in Microsoft SQL Server database development
  • Aware of own limits and knows when to seek expert advice
  • Time management
  • Strong focus on delivery
  • Excellent algorithmic and problem-solving skills
  • Product cycle experience - from inception to delivery
  • Team player and great collaborator, also self-motivated and able to work independently
  • Patience and attention to detail
Desirable Skills:
  • Pension programming experience
  • Problem solving skills
  • SQL (ideally T-SQL)
  • IntelliPen or other pension administration systems, e.g. Equiniti Compendia, Aquila Administrator or Profund oPen
  • Microsoft Office, specifically Excel
  • Microsoft Visual Basic for Applications (VBA)
  • XML
  • Any other programming languages
  • Ability to learn new technologies quickly
  • Enthusiasm and desire to learn
