Job Description

QA Automation Engineer - Java, API Automation, BDDBristol - £60,000 + bonusA Bristol based business have recently launched a new IT Vision and 5-year Strategy focused on digital and technology transformation! As part of this they are recruiting a QA Automation EngineerAs the QA Automation Engineer, you will be responsible for:

  • Driving the decisions on software automation tools and strategy.
  • Designing, developing and maintaining automated test suites using BDD principles and frameworks.
  • Scheduling and running formal testing sessions and more ad-hoc testing as and when required.
  • Testing changes initiated from either the client side or from an internal change within Ian Williams.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to define test scenarios, acceptance criteria, and feature requirements.
  • Being an outward face of IT, facilitating testing with our client with IT and Operational Teams.
  • Gaining an excellent functional understanding of how our systems and processes work, becoming a super user as part of the testing role.
  • Implementing and execute end-to-end tests, prioritising robustness, and execution time.
  • Supporting manual testing where automation is not in place, defining repeatable test scripts that can be automated at a later stage.
  • Identifying and report defects, track their resolution, and verify fixes through retesting.
  • Ownership, maintenance, and prioritisation of QA Bug backlogs.
  • Continuously improve test coverage, automation frameworks, and test processes to enhance the overall quality of our software.
  • Supporting other QA endeavours such as performance testing and security testing.
What will you bring as a QA Automation Engineer
  • Proven experience writing automated API tests using Java/Spring and BDD Frameworks (ideally Cucumber).
  • Experience creating automation framework(s) from scratch to support automated regression.
  • Proficient using SQL to query databases and log files to validate testing.
  • Ability to update and manage pipelines (ideally using Azure DevOps)
  • Familiarity with core programming concepts.
  • A collaborative approach and being adaptable to change.
  • Passion for achieving excellence in product quality and reliability.
  • Familiarity with Scrum/Agile methodologies.
  • Honesty, Integrity, respect, and resilience.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
