Job Description

Aerospace Project ManagerPermanentBristol Area - AttractiveAerospace & DefenceAn Aerospace Project Manager is required within an Advanced Aerospace and Defence Services Organisation. The Aerospace Project Manager will be one of the key players in technical services and technology solutions and Innovation of new technologies within research and development environment. The Aerospace Project Manager will support the Aerospace and Products business units and be involved in the full project life-cycle. The Project Manager role involves the planning, monitoring and control of allocated projects across the Aerospaceand Controls business units. The Aerospace Project Manager will be based in our Bristol offices with occasional travel to our clients sites as required however as part of our commitment to flexible working, employees are able to work remotely.As an Aerospace Project Manager you will be required to:

  • Adhere to the Quality Management System (QMS) and project management procedures.
  • Operate projects based on the PRINCE2 approach and align with the principles of (APM).
  • Manage Projects, and Product Management in accordance company procedures.
  • Participation in the Bid Phase supporting the Business Unit Managers.
  • Preparation of proposals estimates and initial pricing.
  • Preparation of all Project Start-up and Initiation Documentation.
  • Conduct Project Briefs, Project Management Plans, Project Schedules, Project Budgets.
  • Management of Risk in accordance with company procedures.
  • Monitoring progress of all allocated projects in terms of: Time, Cost and Quality.
  • Preparation of project financial data including budget updates and costings.
  • Management of project resource demand and participation in Business Unit resource
  • Stakeholder management and Subcontractor management.
  • Control of project invoicing and management of payments with Finance Department.
  • Management and control of any contract changes with the customer.
  • Oversight of configuration management of project product deliverables.
  • Ensure effective customer communications take place and that the customer needs are met
  • Co-ordination/collection of project data from all project team members.
  • Clear reporting, raising and escalation of project issues, risks, and potential problems.
  • Support the implementation of Best Practice project management across the company.
  • Identify opportunities for improving processes and efficiency.
The Aerospace Project Manager should have the following skills, qualifications, and experience:
  • Degree qualified in a related discipline
  • Qualified PRINCE2 Practitioner (or Project Management Professional) - Desirable
  • Member of the Association of Project Management (MAPM), or equivalentDesirable
  • General experience within aerospace, maritime or defence engineering environment
  • Financially astute, able to create and manage project budgets
  • Project management of engineering or systems development
  • Experience of UK/EU Export (EAR/ITAR) - Desirable
  • Knowledge of aerospace standards and Proficient in the use of Microsoft Project/MS Excel
  • Line management experience (of at least one other) - Desirable
  • Able to work with a wide experience level from junior engineers to technical consultants
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Confident in prioritisation and managing workload
  • Be an effective communicator, both written and verbal
  • Able to travel nationally and internationally on an occasional basis
