Job Description

Principal Flood Risk Modeller (Water) Flood & CoastalBristol40-58kOur client is currently seeking an enthusiastic, positive, and confident Principal Flood Risk Modeller for their Flood Risk and Water Management Team in the vibrant City of Bristol. They need someone who can take a lead in the delivery of their flood modellingincluding 1D and 2D models for rivers, surface water sewers, fully integrated, estuarine and/or flood hydrology projects - right at the heart of a growing, talented, friendly and collaborative team.As part of their multi-disciplinary Water Team, their specialists and Engineers offer a comprehensive range of services to Flood Risk Management Authorities, transport agencies, local authorities, utilities, wild life trusts and developers covering all aspectsof project delivery from concept, through appraisal to detailed design, planning application and construction management support.They are looking for an individual to mentor and support junior staff, whilst managing and progressing the delivery of multiple projects to defined scopes, budgets and programmes. You will be responsible for producing high quality client facing technical reportsand deliverables for flood modelling studies and related projects (such as Flood Modelling Reports, Hydrology Reports, Flood Risk Management Appraisals, Flood Risk Assessments, Sustainable Drainage Studies, Flood Risk Strategies and Surface Water ManagementPlans).As part of the role, you will be involved in business development, and will prepare and manage flood risk management bids, including technical approach, cost estimation, risk assessment and programming resources. You will undertake technical reviews ensuringthe production of high-quality deliverables in some of the following: ICM, Flood Modeller, Tuflow, HeC-RAS, Flood Estimation Handbook, WINFAP, ReFH2 etc. This client is a friendly, high-performing team with a can do attitude to challenges, supporting each other to achieve shared business and career goals. Working for this client creates opportunities to work for long-standing public and private clients andto help create similar great relationships with new organisations.This role is suitable for candidates with a relevant degree in geography, environmental science, or engineering and appropriate knowledge of flood risk practices and techniques. Preferably a relevant post graduate qualification too. You will be a Charteredmember of a relevant institution (for example CIWEM, ICE). For the right candidate they will consider non-chartered applicants on the understanding that they will support you toward becoming a Chartered member within the first 6 months of employment.Experience in GIS analytical skills in either QGIS, ArcGIS or MapInfo and managing and analysing large complex datasets (this may be in Excel or similar software) would be preferred.Our client is committed to supporting their people, giving you the tools to make improvements to your health and wellbeing through their Thrive programme.
