Job Description

Our 26-year-old client lives with her husband and dog in Bristol. She leads a very busy life working in the film industry and enjoys all things film, art, music and theatre-related and is looking for a team of carers with similar interests.She has Muscular Dystrophy and needs help with all aspects of care, cooking, cleaning and helping her to look after her dog. She uses a hoist, an electric wheelchair, non-invasive ventilation, a Cough Assist machine, suction and also has a PEG.She regularly visits family and friends in Northamptonshire and other parts of the UK.Due to her condition, her environment needs to be kept spotlessly clean to minimize infection risk. Carers will be required to wear PPE as directed.Key responsibilities will include:

  • Providing a personal and practical care service, assisting with getting up in the morning, dressing, undressing, washing, bathing/showering and using the toilet.
  • Assistance with mobility problems and other physical disabilities.
  • Driving client using a small automatic van wherever she needs to be driven within the UK.
  • Shopping for and preparing meals and tidying up afterwards.
  • Cleaning, laundry, ironing.
  • Caring, feeding and walking the dog.
    • Our client is looking for applicants who:
  • have a minimum NVQ Level 2 Diploma in Health and Social Care
  • have experience of and are confident with the use of non-invasive 24/7 ventilation, cough assist, suction and PEG
  • have experience of working on a 1:1 basis with someone with complex health needs
  • have previously worked in a live-in family environment
  • have experience of working with young people with disabilities
  • are able to speak and write fluently in English with strong communication skills
  • are able to cope with complex medical needs
  • have the ability to build strong relationships and be a good companion
  • are a confident driver with full driving licence
  • have the flexibility to travel and stay away when required
  • are dog lovers.
    • Salary: £9.38 per hour/£150 per dayShifts: Fortnightly shift pattern split between three carers covering Monday to Friday, Friday to Monday and then Monday to Friday - working approximately 5 days on, 9 days off. Required skills
