Job Description

Here at Aviva we are keen to engage with a commercially minded, senior HR professional to undertake a maternity cover contract - this role will partner with a key trading unit in our Life and Savings & Retirement division. Working as a People Business Partner, the successful post-holder will operate as a Head of HR for this business area, acting a trusted advisor, offering business critical support & guidance to its senior leaders and shaping the businesses people agenda.Alongside showcasing exceptional senior stakeholder management skills, the post-holder will also need to demonstrate prior knowledge of working in similar, customer centric financial services business, ideally during periods of change. We are also looking for a senior HR professional who has a proven track record of identifying people priorities that directly affect trading directions and decisions, and who can display strong business acumen when it comes to working within a regulated, risk-adverse and compliance focused environment.Aviva introduced "smart-working" in 2020 and encourage flexible working; however, the successful post-holder will be required to travel( as required) to all our offices and also needs to be based a commutable distance to one site: Eastleigh,Bristol, London, Norwich, York or Perth.Duties & Responsibilities

  • Overall responsibility for the people activity and relevant decisions aligned to one of the trading units within Avivas Life and Savings & Retirements HR strategies, processes, and policies
  • Lead the operating model design for this business area, ensuring alignment to organisational design principles, including regular monitoring of compliance
  • Act as a trusted advisor for multiple senior leaders, assisting with decision making relating to workforce, appointment, compensation and leadership issues within the division
  • Accountable for delivering major change programmes or project work-streams, including advising leaders through periods of growth, identifying new ideas/opportunities in support of business priorities
  • Drive the business areas leadership, succession, employee engagement, culture and talent plans, coordinating associated activities and collaborating with the other BPs and the wider People function as required
  • Ensure the business area has the capability required to deliver both current and future business priorities, including attracting and retaining a talented, diverse future workforce
  • Skills & Experience required
  • Extensive experience working as a senior HR professional
  • Prior Financial Services industry experience is essential. This needs to include an understanding of the risks faced within this sector
  • Experience of partnering with leaders within an Insurance / Savings & Retirement focused division is highly desirable
  • Highly commercial outlook, matched with a straight-forward communication style
  • Forward-thinking mindset with the ability to develop new ideas and be creative
  • Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills
  • CIPD qualification and/or relevant degree is also highly desirable
  • Ability to start a new role by July and commit to a 12-month contract
