Outdoor Learning CoordinatorLocation: Pilning, BristolContract Type: Fixed Term – 6 MonthsHours: 16 hours per week, Thursday –Friday.Salary: Point 1 £18,169 - Point 6 £28,735 based on FTEThe Aurora GroupThe Aurora Group is an innovative provider of education and care for children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities.We are currently looking for anOutdoor Learning Coordinator inPilning, South Gloucestershire where ourAuroraHedgewaySchoolprovides flexible specialist education and residential care for children and young people aged 7-19 with communication and associated difficulties.The Role:As our Outdoor Learning Coordinator your role will be to plan and deliver outdoor education and learning outside the classroom which creates opportunities that supports the purposes and implementation of Curriculum.You will provide universal and targeted support to the Students, you will plan, co-ordinate and deliver achievement opportunities which will work within the vision and values of The Aurora Group.The Outdoor Learning Coordinator will provide support for the pupils and teachers – working collaboratively in the development of the outdoor education programme.Key Responsibilities:

  • Attending and participating in training and development activities as required.
  • Engaging actively in appraisal and Professional Development
  • Attending meetings, liaising and communicating with colleagues in the school, outside agencies and other relevant bodies.
  • Being an effective role model for the standards of behaviour expected of pupils.
  • Having due regard to confidentiality, child protection procedures, health and safety, other statutory requirements and the policies of the governing body and the school
  • Undertake additional duties and responsibilities commensurate to the role, as directed by the Head teacher and senior staff
  • Professional Values and Practices
  • Having high expectations of all pupils; respecting their social, cultural, linguistic, Religious and ethnic backgrounds; and being committed to raising their educational Achievement.
  • Treating pupils consistently with respect and consideration, and being concerned with their development as learners.
  • In line with the school’s policy and procedures, using behaviour managementstrategies which contribute to a purposeful learning environment.
  • Successful candidates are likely to demonstrate:
  • Experience of working with children or young people with learning disabilities
  • Experience of working with children or young people with an Autistic Spectrum Condition and SEMH
  • Experience or knowledge of delivering provision through the EHCP process
  • Horticultural/gardening experience
  • Ability to create outdoor learning sessions around seasonal planning
  • Plan, resource and deliver outdoor learning sessions with differentiated learning
  • Understanding of links between PSHE and outdoor learning
  • Ability to document and evaluate sessions
