Job Description

Sovereign is introducing some exciting new roles as it launches a Customer Support Fund of 1.5m per year to provide additional services for customers. As part of our commitment to build thriving Communities the Customer Support Fund will allow us to deliverservices including Grants for residents, Energy Support, Job Coaching, Money Coaching and Money and Debt advice. Youll have the opportunity to join a business that puts customers at the heart of all we do and shape one of the largest programmes being deliveredto support people through the cost of living crisis.Were pleased to have x6 opportunities for Money and Debt Advisors to join us on Fixed Term Contracts until March 2024This role is to provide a comprehensive debt and money advice service to our residents, taking a holistic view of a residents debts, with a focus on income maximisation, budget and money management and advice to identify all the options available to improvea residents financial situation.Key responsibilities

  • Advise residents of income maximisation through the appropriate take up of benefits and other financial assistance.
  • Assist residents to prepare their financial statements.
  • Assist residents by negotiating by letter or telephoning with creditors and other agencies that affect the residents requiring money advice, e.g., fuel companies, local authorities, DWP and consumer credit companies etc
  • Negotiate with third parties, including statutory and non-statutory organisations where required
  • Prepare and present cases to the necessary statutory bodies, tribunals and courts and negotiate with third parties as appropriate
  • Assist clients with other associated problems, referring to other advisers/agencies
  • Provide advice and signposting towards, training or employment, linking up with internal and external specialists to assist
  • Maintain accurate records of cases
Please note - this role will follow our hybrid approach of home, office and resident visit working. Your office location can be flexible depending on your home address and can be either Exeter, Christchurch, Bristol or Greenham (Thatcham)Your experienceIn order to be considered for this role, youll need:Previous experience working in a similar role, offering debt advice serviceStrong rapport building, communication, and engagement skillsA proactive approach, with the ability to manage multiple cases at onceQualificationsChartered institute of credit management CICM Level 3 diploma in money and debt advice (ACICM) - desiredCommunity Money Advice CMA level 3 (MaPS accredited at advice level) - desiredYour benefitsYoull be given the opportunity to grow your skills within a role that will bring great satisfaction.
