Job Description

A rapidly growing SAAS provider in the home care sector is looking for a mid/senior PHP Developer with Symfony experience to join their team based in Bristol. They have built a powerful, easy-to-use system that allows agencies to manage their staff, look after their service users and keep on top of their finances for a fixed monthly cost. They have thousands of customers using the software to help support some of the most vulnerable people in our society.The company is looking for an experienced PHP developer to join them at this exciting time, reporting to the Lead API Developer. You will form a core part of the redevelopment team, building a modern headless Symfony-based system to gradually replace a legacy Drupal PHP codebase. If you love getting your head around somebody elses code and then making it better, this is the job for you.Key Requirements:

  • 4+ years of PHP experience
  • Symfony or Laravel experience
  • Experience of working with, or - even better - developing, APIs
  • Excellent understanding of both OO and procedural PHP
  • Experience of working with - and refactoring - legacy code
  • Experience of working with enterprise-level or mission-critical applications
  • Experience of working with GIT
  • Experience of working with a ticketing/bug-tracking system
  • Experience of a testing framework, with the ability to talk intelligently about it
  • Very good understanding of MySQL or another relational database
  • Familiarity with a Linux command line and relevant tools
  • You will have:
  • A track record of working with complex web applications
  • A product rather than project focus
  • The ability to prioritise multiple, competing demands
  • An understanding of design patterns and when to implement them
  • Excellent attention to detail, with a rigorous approach to coding
  • The ability to translate specs into software, and software problems into ordinary English
