Job Description

nmcn work in partnership and collaboration with our customers, to deliver major built environment and critical national infrastructure projects across the UK. Our specialist engineering and construction teams bring multi-sector innovation and technical skill from building and highways, to large-scale water networks and treatment plants.Through our unique offering, providing services from feasibility and design, to construction and handover, our Water business provides Full Asset Lifecycle Thinking across our projects, in both the clean and wastewater environments for our regional waterauthorities and also flood prevention sites for the Environment Agency. Always ensuring we are supporting our customers with innovative outcome-based solutions and an exceptional experience. We currently deliver infrastructure and non-infrastructure projectsfor 10 of the largest national water sector companies and the Environment Agency.Reporting to the Installation Manager and coordinated by the Project Engineers, Site Managers and Site Supervisors, you will be responsible for the Mechanical installation/maintenance of industrial equipment, plant and associated ancillary materials onFlood Defences, Water Treatment, Wastewater Treatment, Pumping Stations and Chemical Dosing Systems.It should be noted that this role may require the successful applicant to provide out of hours emergency breakdown attendance and work away from home from time to time.What youll be doing day to day

  • The primary role will be to maintain circa 200 Environment Agency sites within the Wessex Region, consisting of large tidal gates, vertical and radial level control gates, actuated penstocks flood defence pumps, weedscreens and much more. Including:
    • Planned Preventive Maintenance (PPM)
    • Remedial works highlighted from the PPM
    • Reactive/Breakdown emergency works
    • New installation works
  • The nature of the work can often be tide dependent, muddy and occasionally wet. The successful applicant would therefore need to be used to working safely in all weathers.
  • Taking leading hand for Mechanical Works
  • Installation of various Pumps utilised within the water industryi.e. Booster Pumps, Sewage Pumps, Dosing pumps
  • Installation of ductile iron, mild steel, stainless steel, UPVC & dual-contained pipework
  • Installation of isolation, non-return, pressure relief valves etc. and fittings
  • Installation of Screening equipment, Filters, Scraper Bridges, Distributors, Penstocks, Kiosks, Dosing Rigs etc. typically found within the water industry
  • Installation of steel fabrications, bracketry, hand railing etc
  • Part of a Mechanical & Electrical Team - Assisting electrical trades when required
  • Responsible for the safe construction of minor Mechanical Works.
  • Delivering the installation to meet the programme of works during construction phase
  • Innovate, providing suggestions and ideas to the Project Engineer or Site Supervisor for improved project delivery
  • Complete site documentation
  • Take responsibility for site safety, health and environmental issues
  • Check goods delivered to site are supplied as per order
  • Identifying changes to the works information and reporting to the Project Engineer / Supervisor
The experience were looking for in a candidate
  • Candidates need to hold a full UK driving licence (essential)
  • CSCS accredited card (essential)
  • Demonstrable experience of working within the water and / or sewage industries (desirable)
  • Be able and proficient to read General Arrangement drawings and sections. (desirable)
  • Be able to take information from drawings to set out including line and level pipework and supports. (desirable)
  • Be able to read and understand P&ID diagrams (Process and Instrumentation drawing) (desirable)
  • Able to work on own initiative and be confident in making decisions (essential)
  • Confined Space Training (desirable)
  • EUSR (Clean Water Hygiene) (desirable)
  • SSSTS (desirable)
  • PASMA (desirable)
  • Slinger/signaller (CiTB/NPORS) (desirable)
