Post: Marketing and Communications OfficerDepartment: Marketing and CommunicationsReports to: Marketing and Communications Team LeaderWorking Hours:Full timeLocation:Bristol, with occasional travel to Birmingham/West MidlandsSalary:£22,000 per annumAdditional Benefits:

About the company:Our client is an award-winning social enterprise specialising in the economic, social and civic integration of refugees via accommodation and community-based training support.Their vision:For all refugees coming to the UK to be successfully integrated into society with access to adequate accommodation, employment and education.Purpose of job:The purpose of this role is to support the Marketing and Communications Team, assist the implementation of their Communications Strategy and help build their #rethinkingrefugee campaign. This includes supporting all communications for the company in Bristol,Birmingham, Wolverhampton and Coventry as well as engaging with national and international campaigns, lived experience knowledges and communications best practice in the refugee and migrant support sector.You will be responsible for supporting the marketing and communications strategy for their housing and support services, their research and consultancy services and their training subsidiary to help the organisation build a better system for refugee andmigrant communities in the UK. Reporting to the organisations Marketing and Communications Team Leader you will work closely with all departments to ensure they are communicating their impact and challenging negative perceptions and rhetoric.Key Responsibilities:
  • Contribute to the implementation of the marketing strategy and brand positioning for the organisation.
  • Support the Marketing and Communications Team Leader in overseeing the departments operations.
  • Organise and attend marketing activities or events to raise brand awareness.
  • Plan advertising and promotional campaigns for products or services on a variety of media (social, print etc.)
  • Website content management and creation of regular news stories for their blog to be uploaded via our CMSDrupal.
  • Coordinate the organisations operational marketing, ensuring best practice and high-quality design.
  • Design graphics and reports using software such as, Photoshop and InDesign.
  • Creation of their monthly e-newsletter using Mailchimp and monitoring results.
  • Work with teams to develop and create regular success stories and case studies to support the marketing strategy and funding bids.
  • Ensure best practice is maintained around GDPR compliance and brand guidelines.
Person SpecificationEssential:
  • A degree in a relevant subject (e.g. Marketing, English, Social Sciences) or equivalent work experience.
  • Demonstrable experience working in marketing, communications or journalism.
  • Experience creating content and copy for social media.
  • Digital communication, including editing and creating online content.
  • Knowledge of current marketing and communications trends and best practice.
  • Excellent writing and editing skills.
  • Confident and creative with design software, ideally Canva and Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Confident Microsoft skills - Outlook, Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
  • Strong organisational and planning skills.
  • Creative flair and interest in design.
  • Ability to manage own time, whilst also working within a team.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • A commitment and desire to support refugees with their integration in the UK.
  • A commitment to Equality and Diversity principles.
Desirable:
  • Evidence of professional development in Marketing, Communications or Advocacy/Campaigns.
  • Experience of working in Communications at an organisation working with vulnerable people.
  • Experience working with press and media/policy-makers.
  • Experience of CMS, Google Analytics and social media reporting.
  • Ability to process and simplify complex information appropriately.
  • Interest in refugee and migrant policy, issues and rights.
  • Ability to network and create brilliant relationships both externally and internally.
