Job Description

We are currently working with a Local Authority in the South West who is looking for a Lead Finance Officer to join the team to assist the Adult Support Services Financial Services Team.The Lead Officer will be responsible for leading and managing the delivery of financial support functions for social care, including; financial assessment & benefits review, deferred payments function, payments of care invoices, raising of charges for careand supporting corporate debt recovery.Job: Lead Officer ASC FinanceDuration: 7 monthsRate: £23ph via Umbrella CompanySite presence: Predominantly remote working with 1 day on siteRole Details

  • Lead and manage teams reporting to the post holder to deliver an efficient, accurate and consistent level service
  • Develop and maintain an approach to continuous improvement of the services offered on both existing and emerging customer access channel
  • Provide effective leadership and management to the teams for which you are responsible, mentoring and management (including performance management, appraisal reviews etc) of the staff reporting to the post, in accordance with the Councils policy & procedures
  • Report to the Finance Manager - Projects & Capital
  • Improve the Project processes, standardising and embedding processes
  • Review Finance Manual policies, processes and procedures
  • Support of costings for business cases
  • Support the development of Statutory returns
  • Supporting Capital team with capital bids and in documenting processes and testing them
  • Supporting finance manager with procurement queries
Requirement
  • At least part AAT part qualified up to CCAB part qualified, or qualified by experience
  • Project experience desirable
  • Local Authority experience
  • Service management and development experience
  • Experience of monitoring and reporting on progress of programmes
  • Extensive staff management and leadership experience
  • Excellent working knowledge of relevant financial procedures
  • Developing and monitoring effective working practices, standards and systems with a focus on financial and statutory services
