Job Description

  • Supporting Burges Salmon IT Applications and Hardware
  • Providing first line application support (productivity tools and business applications) including incident and problem identification, analysis, diagnosis, and resolution or escalation when necessary
  • Carrying out hardware and software installation, configuration, upgrades, new builds and maintenance
  • Performing user and voicemail administration
  • Carrying out desk installs for new starters, moves and organisational changes
  • Assisting in incident resolution, responding to ad hoc queries and communicating with people over email, on the phone or face to face
  • Working with the technology team to identify recurring and common incidents and contribute to the developments/solutions which reduce them
  • Adhering to call management procedures including escalations
  • Ensuring customers are kept fully up to date with the status of their calls at all times and where required involving the technology team leaders and managers
  • Accepting responsibility for and taking care of all company property and equipment and knowing the procedures to follow in the event of faults or damage as laid out in the office manual
  • Being aware of the lines of authority within your department for the communication of queries or problems
You will need the following skills:
  • Keen interest in IT
  • Great written and verbal communication skills
  • Great customer service skills an ethic
  • Solutions -focused mindset and diagnostic skills
Entry requirements:
  • 3 GCSEs (or equivalent) at grades 4+ (A-C) in any subject
  • GCSE Maths and English (or equivalents) at grades 3+ (D or above)
  • Prospective apprentices must not hold an existing qualification at the same or higher level as this apprenticeship is in a similar subject
You may also have a combination of qualifications and experience which demonstrate the minimum foundation needed for the programme. In this instance you could still be considered for the programme.If you hold international equivalents of the above qualifications, at the time of your application you must be able to provide an official document that states how your international qualifications compare to the UK qualifications.For more information please visit the UK ENIC website. Working week:35 hours per week, shifts to cover 7am to 7pm with 1 hour lunch break.Future prospects:90% of QA apprentices secure permanent employment after completing: this is 20% higher than the national average.Important information:QA’s apprenticeships are funded by the Education & Skills Funding Agency (ESFA), an executive agency of the Department for Education. To be eligible for a Government funded apprenticeship you must have lived in the UK or European Economic Area (EEA) forthe last 3 consecutive years.
