Job Description

Robert Half are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Accountant to join our client a reputable legal firm on a 12-month fixed term contract.The ideal candidate will be a qualified accountant with a strong background in the legal sector or professional services. As a Qualified Accountant, you will play a crucial role in managing financial aspects related to the firms partnership operations,ensuring accuracy, compliance, and effective financial management.Role: Interim Senior Accountant (Legal)Duration: 12 month FTCWork basis: Hybrid or Fully remote (only if you have a background in the legal industry)Salary: 55k-60k (plus benefits) Start date: ASAPKey Responsibilities:

  • Financial Reporting and Analysis:
Prepare timely and accurate financial reports, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements, specifically tailored for partnership operations.Analyze financial data to provide insights into the firms financial performance, highlighting key trends, risks, and opportunities to aid strategic decision-making.
  • Partnership Accounting:
Oversee the financial aspects of partnership accounts, ensuring accurate allocation of profits, losses, and partner distributions in accordance with partnership agreements.Maintain accurate records of partner capital accounts, track capital contributions and withdrawals, and facilitate adjustments as necessary.
  • Budgeting and Forecasting:
Collaborate with partners and senior management to develop annual budgets and forecasts for partnership operations.Monitor actual financial performance against budgets, identifying variances and providing recommendations for corrective actions as needed.
  • Financial Compliance:
Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards, tax regulations, and legal requirements applicable to partnership accounting.Assist in the preparation of tax returns related to partnership activities and coordinate with external tax advisors as necessary.
  • Partner Compensation:
Work closely with partners and HR to facilitate accurate and timely partner compensation processes, ensuring adherence to established policies and guidelines.
  • Financial Systems and Process Improvement:
Contribute to the enhancement of financial systems, processes, and controls to streamline efficiency and accuracy in partnership accounting operations.Identify areas for process improvement and actively participate in initiatives to drive operational excellence.Qualifications and Requirements:
  • Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent).
  • Prior experience in partnership accounting within the legal sector or professional services is highly desirable.
  • Proficiency in financial reporting, analysis, and advanced Excel skills.
  • Familiarity with accounting software and ERP systems; experience with legal accounting software is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of accounting standards, tax regulations, and compliance requirements.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to interact effectively with partners, senior management, and cross-functional teams.
  • Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy and data integrity.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret complex financial data and provide actionable insights.
  • Proven track record of process improvement and an innovative approach to problem-solving.
