Job Description

We are looking for an Integration Support Engineer with knowledge of the C’ programming language and a high level of motivation to join our specialist EMV (Chip and PIN) technical team based at our offices in central Bristol. The role will involve the need to assist the software integration activities of our customers throughout the entire project lifecycle. The team are responsible for a product portfolio of credit card processing software spanning multiple platforms including a variety of embedded systems.   • The need to communicate with new and existing customers to provide primary technical assistance during the evaluation, integration and testing stages of projects in order to ensure that projects are successfully completed to each customer’s satisfaction. This may occasionally include the need to travel overseas to customer sites.
  • Assisting customers to integrate our software kernels and implement their applications, writing and providing code snippets and example applications as required, typically in the C’ programming language.
  • Ensuring that customer field reports and testing issues are investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction, liaising with other team members as required to propose solutions.
  • Working with our customers, other team members and external test labs to ensure all necessary processes, paperwork and other arrangements have been completed within the required timeframe, and that we monitor each customer’s progress and factor this into our internal planning processes to ensure that we work in the most efficient manner.
  • Providing industry leading subject-matter expertise.
  • Maintaining our repository of customer support documentation, and identifying and implementing improvements to our documentation or processes that benefit the company.
  • Training and InductionAt the commencement of the role, there will be specific training from our industry experts within the team on some of the detailed aspects of how contact and contactless transactions are processed by payment terminals, an overview of our products and software, and an understanding of the processes required for integration and certification. There will also be training about the wider payment industry, which the company is also involved in. It will also provide the opportunity to get some practical experience of how payment devices work, and once this is completed it will enable the Integration Support Engineer to begin their work supporting our customers alongside other experienced members of the team, who will provide mentorship and will also be available to advise, assist and generally support as required to ensure the role is successful.Essential Skills & Experience
  • Experience of programming in the C’ language, and with an understanding of ASCII, Hexadecimal and Binary systems.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to act as primary technical contact for multiple customers simultaneously, guiding each of them through the entire project lifecycle from requirements gathering through to laboratory testing.
  • Highly motivated, with the ability to work independently or as part of a team on projects as required.
  • Preferred Skills & Experience
  • A background in programming or application support.
  • Experience or good understanding of multiple other programming languages, including C++, C#, VB.Net and Java.
  • Experience of supporting external customers.
  • Experience of writing customer facing technical documentation.
  • Familiar with Doxygen, JIRA and source control systems such as GitLab.
  • University graduate with a degree in Engineering / Computer Science or related discipline.
  • A clean driving license and the ability to travel in the UK and worldwide to carry out duties as required.
