Job Description

Human Factors Engineer - 12 Month Contract (Extensions Likely) - Up to £85 per Hour (Inside IR35) - Bristol - Hybrid Working (2/3 days per week remote) - BPSS / SC ClearanceRequired - 1 StageInterview ProcessYolk Recruitment are working with a global defence organisation based in Bristol looking to scale their UK operation. Theyre recruiting heavily in all areas & looking for a Human Factors Engineer to join their Weapons Systems Design department on a contractbasis.If successful you will join an experienced team at the cutting edge of modern weapons design. You will be responsiblefor the development of safe, usable and effective Weapon Systems. The Human Factors department is responsible for ensuring that user capabilityis fully considered in the weapon system, from initial design through development and delivery to the customer.The role is a 12 month contactinside IR35. They are based in Bristol but offering hybrid working with 50% onsite & 50% Remote available.Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct of Human Factors Integration through the development lifecycle providing progressive assurance to the customer as per Def Stan 00-251
  • Analysis and assessment of the role of the operator within the weapon system considering weapon system planning, command and control
  • Human Computer Interface (HCI) design and prototyping
  • Analysis of physical ergonomics and integration into workspaces
  • Definition of HF requirements and development and maintenance of lower level detailed specifications
  • Conduct of User Experiments and Trials supporting system concepting, development and verification
Skills / Experience Required:
  • Member of the Institute of Ergonomics and Human Factors (IEHF)
  • Substantial & demonstrable understanding of the application of Human Factors Integration & Human Factors Engineering in a Defence context:
o Application defence standards (00-251)o Application of HF in the system lifecyle including (HFI, Task analysis, HCI specification, user trials and experimentation, physical ergonomics)o Use of CAD software such as Jacko Use of User Interface prototyping tools preferably Axureo Good understanding of Systems Engineering and disciplines that interact with Human Factors (Supportability, Training, Systems) including definition and verification of HF requirements.
  • Good Understanding of the Military user community and ways of working
  • MS Office, DOORS
  • Ability to generate technical reports
  • Good planning skills
  • Customer focused
  • Effective communication skills.
