Job Description

Do you have a Masters, PhD or BSc degree in Ergonomics, Human Factors or something similar paired with previous experience in either a consultancy, medical device company, pharmaceutical company or any of the major regulated industries If so, then this brand-new opportunity could be a fantastic career move for you!An innovative user focusedconsultancy focused on changing peoples lives through the devices they create in the medical devices sector is looking to bring on a senior and non-senior Human Factors Consultant. Candidates will be considered at different salary levels between £28,000 and £33,000 depending on experience for the Human Factors Consultant position and up to £50,000 depending on experience for the Senior Human Factors Consultant position. In addition, for either role, you willreceive excellent benefits including a 10% annual performance bonus. You will join an exciting, pioneering company looking to make a change to the world one device at a time. This is a fully remote role open to anyone in the UK. Your role will include (Senior):

  • HF study design/planning
  • Drafting of protocols
  • Ethical approval management
  • Study participant recruitment
  • Study moderation, observation and data capture
  • Use error and root cause analysis
  • Reporting and presenting study recommendations to clients, leading activities where appropriate
  • Technical and editorial review of other team members work
  • Lead medium sized projects
  • Manage budgets, scope and client expectations and take responsibility for overall project resources on individual projects/work packages as allocated
  • Ensure forecasts for allocated projects are accurate and kept up to date
Your role will include (Non Senior)
  • Strategic planning
  • Risk analysis
  • contributing to the creation of formative studies.
  • Involvement in rigorous testing, analysis and summative studies during development and verification stages.
Other duties will include the reporting of the studies and developing business through supporting the sales team during meetings and proposals. Skills and Experience Required (Senior):
  • Previous managerial experience in a Human Factors role
  • Experience with planning, delivering and reporting high quality studies
  • Experience following these standards and guidance: IEC 62366-1 / ISO 14971 / FDA Guidelines: Applying Human Factors and Usability Engineering to Medical Devices
Other duties will include the reporting of the studies and developing business through supporting the sales team during meetings and proposals. Previous medical device experience is preferred but not required (previous highly regulated industry experience isnecessary).Skills and Experience Required (Non-Senior):
  • Experience with planning, delivering and reporting high quality studies
  • Experience following these standards and guidance: IEC 62366-1 / ISO 14971 / FDA Guidelines: Applying Human Factors and Usability Engineering to Medical Devices
  • Good experience in working on HF programs including: task analysis, contextual enquiry, formative and summative / validation studies
  • Specific experience in the following: risk management, usability, design/engineering, testing
  • HF study planning/ design
  • Protocol drafting
  • Participant recruitment management
  • Study moderation, observation, data capture
  • Use error and root cause analysis
  • Reporting / presenting recommendations
  • HF experience with medical devices, digital user interfaces, packaging, labelling and instructions for use
