Job Description

The companyOur client is a Bristol based charity based in the community it serves. Its purpose is to support people to make positive changes in their lives and communities, using technology and the arts.The organisation is looking for someone who is passionate about creating exciting opportunities for young people, an experienced people manager, someone who understands what makes a good funding application and a confident relationship builder to be theirnext Head of Young Peoples Programme. The purpose of the role is to lead the young peoples teams to ensure charity aims, and objectives are met by overseeing the development and delivery of a high-quality programme for young peopleand emerging creatives and to provide day to day management of staff members. The role will also enable the development of the programme through building partnerships with a wide network of organisations, locally, nationally, and internationally. To establishand nurture funder relationships and deliver strategy that supports long term sustainability of this work, work closely with the finance team to ensure good financial management and generate income and collaboratively with the leadership team to codesign thewider charity programme and organisational strategy.Responsibilities will include:

  • Managing staff through regular meetings, 1-1s and annual reviews
  • Managing stakeholder and funder relationships and working with the finance team to ensure robust financial planning
  • Working with the management team to ensure the organisation supports young people undertaking internships, work experience and student placements effectively
  • Working with the CEO to contribute to the business plan
  • Working closely with the Comms Team to ensure your peoples projects and stories are being told
  • Ensuring safeguarding processes are upheld
  • Researching and developing a pool of freelance associates and volunteers to help deliver programmes
  • Ensuring an ongoing recruitment initiative engaging young people with the charity programme
  • Leading the development of the young peoples programme and ensuring its integration withing the work of the charity, local community and city
  • Working closely with the wider teams and sector partners to develop and expand creative networks, to develop products and services with schools, local organisations and national networks that generate income
  • Be up to date with research and strategies regarding innovative approaches to education, skills training and employment in the cultural sector
  • Supporting the team to maintain the charity database, analyse data, manage, and deliver all monitoring, evaluation and reports as required by funders and stakeholders or internally
  • Monitoring activities and events to ensure a high standard of delivery and compliance with current legislation
  • Ensuring the young peoples content on the charity website is engaging and up to date
  • Disseminating good practice in relation to working with young people throughout the organisation
  • Applying for funding and seeking commission to ensure the sustainability of the programme
Person Specification
  • Minimum of 3 years project management experience
  • Demonstrable people management skills
  • Experience of or an interest in using arts, tech, media and digital to engage with young people
  • Experience of networking and building strategic relationships at the highest level with a diverse range of stakeholders and partners
  • A track record of overseeing the planning, managing and evaluation of arts and art and technology projects for young people
  • Experience of working within mainstream education and managing programmes of work within schools
  • Track record of fundraising
  • Knowledge of access and inclusion issues in relation to work with young people
  • Knowledge of national and regional policies relevant to arts, cultural education, and youth arts
  • Experience of out of school qualifications, one or more transferable media skills, a broad knowledge of contemporary arts, a management qualification and experience living or working in Knowle West would be advantageous
