Head of Media RelationsSports Industry£35,000 - £45,000 + Performance BonusBristol / 100% office basedThe Job:The Head of Media will play a pivotal role in shaping and delivering media and communication strategy. This individual will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of media relations, including content creation, social media management, press relations, andinternal communications. The Head of Media will work closely with various departments within the business, as well as external stakeholders, to ensure consistent and effective communication.Key Responsibilities:Develop and implement a comprehensive media and communications strategy in line with business objectives.Manage and lead the media and communications team, providing guidance, support, and direction to ensure high-quality content creation and distribution.Oversee the official website and social media channels, ensuring content is engaging, timely, and aligned with brand and values.Build and maintain strong relationships with local, national, and international media outlets to ensure maximum positive exposure for the business.Prepare and distribute press releases, manage media inquiries, and coordinate interviews various staff membersEnsure effective internal communication within the business, keeping everyone informed of key developments and news.Work closely with the marketing department to support commercial initiatives and partnerships.Monitor media coverage, providing regular reports and analysis to senior management.Manage crisis communications, ensuring reputation is protected and enhanced during challenging times.Organize and facilitate press conferences, media events, and other public appearances.Ensure all content produced adheres to legal and ethical standards and is in line with company policies.The Person:Proven experience in media relations, journalism, or a related field.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Strong leadership and team management abilities.A deep understanding of the sports industry and the media landscape.Ability to build relationships with media outlets, partners, and other stakeholders.Experience in crisis communication and reputation management.Familiarity with social media management and content creation tools.The Benefits: Competitive salary and performance-related bonuses, opportunities for professional development and career progression, Inclusive and supportive team environment. Working Hours: 37.5 hours per week. Monday to Friday 9am to 5.30pm with 1 hour break, with flexibility to work irregular hours, including evenings and weekends as required by the business.
