Job Description

A fantastic opportunity for a highly motivated Head of HR has become available at a school in Thornbury due to a restructure of the senior leadership team.

  • Salary: £34,298 - £41,254
  • Hours: Monday - Friday (09:00 - 17:30)
  • 6.6 weeks holiday, including a bank holiday allowance

Head of HR duties include:
  • Responsibility for the strategic directions of HR and administrative functions of the school
  • Offering professional leadership and personal support to all team members to enable them to achieve agreed outcomes as well as assuming co-responsibility with other SLT members for the leadership and management of the school in the absence of the CEO
  • Develop, implement and maintain HR policies and procedures to ensure effective, fair and consistent management of staff throughout the school, and ensure that the HR team handbook and HR section in the staff handbook are comprehensive and up to date
  • Keep up to date with legal developments and advise the CEO on compliance and risk factors.
  • Oversee the monthly payroll and develop systems to ensure all payroll processes are fit for purpose
  • Working closely with the schools Training Lead and the Training and Development Officer on the design, coordination, and evaluation of the schools comprehensive training framework of basic and advanced training for staff, based on the vision and valuesof the School
  • Oversight of the office administration staff, ensuring a smooth running of the office
The ideal Head of HR candidate will have:
  • A professional HR qualification with a thorough practical understanding of employment law and safer recruitment
  • Qualified to CIPD level 5 or equivalent, although qualification through experience will be considered
  • Experience of leading HR formal processes and in staff management and recruitment
  • Experience in a related field
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills
  • Leadership skills
