Head of Commercial Finance

Job Description

I have partnered with a leading UK law firm and assisting them in the search for the Head of Commercial Finance to lead the FP&A function, which supports the business in meeting its strategic and financial objectives through the provision of financial, commercialand operational information and analysis. This role will lead elements of the Financial Improvement Plan as directed by the Chief Financial Officer and you will be expected to contribute to the senior finance leadership team and support the implementationof the finance strategy.The main duties of the role include being part of the Senior Finance Leadership Team and contribute to the development and periodic review of the finance department strategy, including the Finance Improvement Plan with a particular emphasis on the commercialsupport to the firm. This role will lead the FP&A team and ensure annual reviews for teams are carried out effectively and set objectives that are aligned to the departments and the firms strategies. The Head of Commercial Finance will provide financialinformation to the CFO, Managing Partner and Finance Partner to assist them in managing the business and ensure that business performance and profitability across practice areas, sectors, specialisms, clients, work types and matters is analysed, understoodand communicated through insightful management information. You will understand the key financial drivers in the business; review and analyse business and individual fee-earner KPIs and financial information to identify under-performing areas and supportthe senior stakeholders with improvement plans. This role will seek continuous development and improvement of business intelligence tools and reporting to partners, departments and units to improve the accuracy and depth of analysis it can provide. You willsupport optimisation of the way the Firm manages its matters through their lifecycle to deliver improved operational efficiencies and profitability, including support on pricing, matter budgets, change orders and matter financial analysis. This role will workwith the Firms Partners, Marketing and Business Development teams to provide input for pitches, including developing fee structure options in response to client RFPs and ad-hoc requests. This position is responsible for the annual budgeting process and halfyearly forecast process in accordance with their respective timetables including the Identification of key risks and opportunities.Applicants should be Applicants should be Qualified Accountants with experience working within the legal or professional sector. This role would suit an individual who has significant commercial experience of working in Senior Finance roles with strong teammanagement experience and a history of successful delivery of projects across a variety of areas of Finance. You must be able to demonstrate the ability to influence key business strategies and initiatives and be able to take a strategic view of the businessand impact on Finance to improve and deliver a proactive service. Strong commercial awareness is key with experience in understanding complex and diverse business requirements. You must be service oriented with experience of stakeholder management & the potentialto establish a polished reputation in the business quickly and become a trusted and respected advisor to the business
