Job Description

We have an exciting opportunity for a Geo-environmental Engineer to join our existing, but growing professional geo-environmental team in the South West of England. Based in either Bristol or Exeter you would be working alongside an experienced team getting involved with a vast array of developing projects. You will join us on a full-time, permanent basis and in return, you will receive a competitive salary and benefits.Established in 1983, now employing over 200 staff and with a turnover in excess of £18m, CAN (part of the RSK Group) is a specialist civil engineering contractor, delivering projects across the UK. Using specialist and rope access techniques, CAN Geotechnical provides innovative solutions to challenging ground engineering projects within all aspects of the construction and civil engineering markets.Geo-environmental Engineer role:- Running and/or supporting Phase I & II geo-environmental ground investigations for all scales of projects and types of site with senior support as necessary- Undertaking site works using a variety of intrusive investigation methods- Soil and rock logging to current UK standards, including laboratory scheduling- Undertaking ground gas, vapour and groundwater monitoring- Writing factual and interpretative reports including quantitative risk assessment- Supervising remediation and earthworks projects (training provided)- Liaising with clients, regulators and internal specialists (as necessary)What were looking for in our Geo-environmental Engineer:- BSc or equivalent in Geology, Environmental Science or similar- MSc desirable but not essential- Working towards Chartered status with a relevant institution- Typically requires at least 2-5 years specific relevant experience- An understanding of geology, ground investigation works, contaminated land, geotechnics- Basic knowledge of planning legislation- Able to complete factual and interpretative assessments to a basic level- Able to deliver projects and work within a multi-disciplinary consultancy- Track record in managing time and resources effectively and within budgetSalary & benefits:- Commensurate with experience- Contributory Pension Scheme- Training by senior team members to enable technical and managerial progression- Significant support and encouragement to enable career progression- A flexible benefits programme including the option to buy additional holidays- We encourage Continuing Professional Development and as a Registered Practice with the Geological Society, we are committed to supporting candidates through the Pathway to Chartership.- Professional institution fees paidFurthermore, retaining our employeesis the building block of a successful organisation and we want to ensure youmaintain a healthy work life balance, with many opportunities for flexible working,social activities, and community involvement projects.If you feel you have the skills and experience to become our Geo-environmental Engineer, then please click ‘Apply’ today.All candidates applying for positions with RSK Group must be eligible to work in the UK/European Economic Area.RSK Group is an Equal Opportunities Employer
