Job Description

Geo-Environmental ConsultantLocation: BristolMy Client is seeking to appoint a Geo-environmental Consultant to join the Land Quality team based in Bristol. They are a multi-disciplinary environmental and engineering consultancy functioning across the UK.Join a highly rated professional team with a strong reputation for quality, technical knowledge and providing their clients with commercially focused solutions. My Client will encourage and develop staff and provide you with a diverse workload and the independenceto work individually, as well offering you the chance to contribute to the team.Ideally candidates will have:Suitably qualified, with a BEng, BSc or higher technical qualification in a relevant subject

  • Environmental science
-Have a high level of understanding of contaminated land risk assessment including development of the theoretical site model.-UK based experience, ideally gained in ground investigation, interpretation and reporting.-Have an understanding of geotechnical testing and interpretation for the purposes of shallow foundations (preferable).-Have a basic level of understanding of writing Environmental Statements as part of an Environmental Impact Assessment.-Build and develop relationships, demonstrate interpersonal skills, both internally and externally.-Must have self-motivation to continuously develop your technical and behavioural skills.Ability to apply technical knowledge in analysing problems and creating solutions.--Working knowledge of appropriate British Standards, Industry Guidance, Eurocodes and NHBC Standards-Strong attention to detail and a Flexible approach to work.-High Levels of verbal and written communication skills.-A full UK driving licence.Your core responsibilities would include:Undertaking design, management, supervision and reporting of geotechnical and/or geo-environmental assignments: preparation of Remediation Method Statements, desk studies, groundwater and gas risk assessments, ground investigations (factual and interpretative)and human health.Providing clients with geotechnical and/or geo-environmental advice and assistance as required.Negotiate and liaise with relevant regulatory authorities (NHBC, EA, LA etc.) as necessary.Support the development and provision of technical work in your areas of expertiseCompleting fieldwork (rain or shine!) including site inspections (desk study walkovers), supervision of ground investigation works, groundwater and ground gas monitoring.Supporting the Project Manager and team to ensure projects are delivered successfully, to time and budget.Appointment and management of sub-contractors in undertaking site works.Review Ground Investigation Factual Data including geological logs and laboratory data:Assisting the Project Manager with project finances and invoicing.Ensure that technical performance standards are continued on projects you are involved in.Adhere to all Health and Safety requirements at all times.The role offers excellent career prospects.
