Job Description

A site based generator service technician is required for a rapidly expanding, renewable energy company based in the UK.As one of the UKs leading providers of anaerobic waste digestion and gas conversion into renewable energy, the company provide a wide range of solutions for sites all over the UK. Operating regionally, they support a clients from food production, dairy, distilleries, landfill sites and many others. They offer round the clock support both remotely and site based, with teams of engineers designated to their regions.Benefits include a competitive basic salary, on call bonus, company vehicle with fuel card, mobile phone and laptop, 33 days holiday inc. bank hols, private pension, private medical cover, and annual bonuses.Responsibilities for the role include -

  • Day to day operations and maintenance of generator sets, engines, and on site energy conversion equipment
  • Fault diagnosis, location and rectification
  • Planned maintenance and breakdown response on the generator sets with minimum outages
  • Maintenance and repair of all mechanical and electrical plant, including pumps and motors at all facilities.
  • Training, support and supervision of Operations Technicians to undertake minor maintenance and simple fault finding.
  • Support the on call rota with 24-hour emergency response, as part of a team rota
  • Ordering of spares and control of stock.
  • Compliance and implementation of company environmental protection procedures with a proactive approach to maintaining, monitoring, reporting and auditing, and updating company systems
  • Conduct air emissions monitoring
    • This role has a call out rota to support clients outside of normal working hours, so engineers must be prepared to travel to other key customer sites in the region as part of the call out rota which is generally 1 in 4 weeks.To be successful in this role, you will have the following skills and experience -
  • Strong knowledge of diesel or gas generator sets
  • Be able to strip down, repair and complete overhauls on engines
  • Basic experience with electrical fault finding, and connecting remotely to generator sets using a laptop
  • Fault location, diagnosis and rectification
  • Experience working with Landfill Gas, specialist fuels and is advantageous
    • Working hours are 8:30am - 5pm Monday to Friday.
