Job Description

Fundraising OfficerThis is a fantastic opportunity for a Retention Fundraising Officer to work with people in the drylands of Africa to tackle poverty and the effects of the climate crisis by growing trees, improving peoples incomes, and restoring and protecting land.The charitys projects make sure trees thrive so they can provide food and incomes today and protect the environment for tomorrow.Position: Retention Fundraising OfficerLocation: Bristol office, UKHours: Full-time, 35hrs per week.Salary: £27,865 per annumContract: Full Time PermanentBenefits: Competitive Holiday and PensionClosing Date: 29th June 2022The charity will be doing rolling recruitment so this role may close earlier if the right candidate is found.The RoleAs Retention Fundraising Officer, you will maintain donors who have been giving to the charity for more than 6 months. Develop support from the charitys supporters with a range of regular communications and engagement tools.Your main duties and responsibilities within this varied and rewarding role will be to:

  • Lead on day-to-day project management of all retention fundraising activities
  • Development of the donor journey and communications aiming to increase donor retention
  • Develop digital retention fundraising strategies, working closely with the Digital Marketing Officer
  • Manage relationships with suppliers for outsourced programs and projects
  • Deliver high standard of supporter care, including responding to donor correspondence and queries
  • Utilise Raisers Edge effectively, maintain and develop the supporter database for fundraising
  • Provide data and analysis on fundraising campaigns to assist with planning and budget setting
  • Keep up to date with relevant legislation including GDPR
  • Manage the administration for legacy gifts pledged
  • Liaise with the Finance Department to ensure cross-department accuracy of donor pledges
  • Assist in event organisation where regular givers, frequent givers and/or legacy prospects will be present
  • Assist with recruitment of volunteers, intern, and temps
  • Identify projects that can be delegated to volunteers
  • Provide occasional back-up and cover to team/department staff as appropriate.
  • Be familiar with the work of the Charity and be able to communicate this
About YouAs Retention Fundraising Officer, you will have a proven track record of fundraising and experience of project managing fundraising campaigns to agreed targets, deadlines & budgets.You will also have the following Knowledge, Experience and Skills:
  • Experience of production and/or fulfilment of communications materials
  • Experience of using fundraising CRMs (Raisers Edge NXT preferred)
  • Experience of undertaking research and reporting findings
  • Knowledge of administering legacies
  • Excellent planning and project management skills; experienced in prioritising workload.
  • Understanding of good digital customer journeys and stewardship journeys.
  • High level of numeracy and analytical skills with ability to analyse data and produce reports.
  • A passion for international development and to issues affecting rural smallholder farmers in dryland Africa
  • Proactive and confident to make recommendations to improve future activity.
