Full Stack Software Engineer - Bristol - £60,000 - £70,000 plus pension, 28 days annual leave plus bank holidays, private medical, life assurance. This is a hybrid role with 1- 3days in the Bristol office and the rest working from home.My client are the leading reinsurer globally for cyber risk, driven by its superior modelling, pricing, and underwriting capability. We have built the only proprietary, stochastic model for cyber insurance in the market; the capability combines over 90% ofmarket data with live data feeds on cyber risk to generate industry-leading loss predictions. The system assesses over 1 million policies, pulling together human expertise and data from dozens of sources to model risk with machine learning algorithms and amassive Monte Carlo simulation that generates over 10 trillion calculations and 100 terabytes of data. The outputs enable industry-leading insights for portfolio construction, aggregation management, and loss prediction.About the Role Full Stack Software Engineer We are seeking technical staff for our global technology hub in central Bristol. You will be working in a hybrid team of software engineers and data scientists in the UK and US to develop APIs and front-end software that supports our advanced AI-driven cyberunderwriting capabilities. Working in a start-up means youll gain a rich breadth of knowledge in various technologies and products across the company, from developing APIs and UI features to tweaking CD pipelines and GCP infrastructure-as-code. In addition,youll be able to interact with the underwriters and customers directly where required and get direct feedback on your code running in production, knowing that youve made an impact.Responsibilities Full Stack Software Engineer * Design and build secure, scalable, serverless REST API services within the Google Cloud Platform* Develop UI features in Angular TypeScript and Python-based web frameworks to deliver our cutting-edge cyber insurance products to underwriters and insurance applicants* Optimise and monitor existing systems/services to improve performance and efficiency* Work with other talented members of the team including data scientists, data engineers and insurance professionals to build the foundations of the growth over the coming yearsKey skills for Full Stack Software Engineer * 3+ years of relevant software development industry experience in a fast paced, high growth tech environment* Expertise with a public cloud provider (AWS, GCP, Azure) and their serverless infrastructure-as-a-service offerings* Familiarity with container and orchestration technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes* You are a full-cycle developer: strong ownership and experience building and operating high-scale, distributed systems across the full software life cycle* Strong Python skills* Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well within a team and across multi-discipline product teams, especially when dealing with end-users* You have the resilience and flexibility to deal with ambiguity in changing requirements, finding ways around blockers where necessary* You are a strong problem solver and have solid production debugging skills* You are passionate about efficiency, availability, security and qualityDesirable experience for Full Stack Software Engineer * Experience of DataBricks* TypeScript/Angular experience* Strong SQL skills* Google Cloud Platform* Experience with infrastructure-as-code software tools (e.g. Terraform)* Familiarity with machine learning and related technologies* Domain experience in insurance or cyber security* Experience of MLOps and the full lifecycle of production machine learning models and pipelinesQualifications for Full Stack Software Engineer * Bachelor of Science or higher in a technical degree, with specialisations related to computer science preferredHow to apply for Full Stack Software EngineerIf you would like to take advantage of this fantastic opportunity, please apply by following the links below.
