Please note due to Police Vetting this role requires you to have resided within the UK continuously for at least 5 years.Role DescriptionThe post holder acts as Front End Developer delivering innovative products and services for citizens and colleagues. The role includes hands on design and development of bespoke applications, as well as website and intranet interfaces. The role will be highlycollaborative, looking at the latest trends and technologies whilst being analytical in order ensure interfaces meet the needs of users by working closely with other developers, content designers and user experience colleagues. The IT Directorate includesthe technical analysis, design, development, installation, configuration, tuning and support of all devices, infrastructure and applications. The delivered services will operate to agreed performance standards. The role will encompass all elements of the lifecycle.This will involve the analysis, design and creation of solutions, working within or acting as the technical lead for projects as well as inputting into architecture and strategy functions and the design and development of technical standardsMain Responsibilities

• To provide expertise (including as the Subject Matter Expert) working within a complex and high value products and services for front end development.
• To use a combination of specialist knowledge and interpersonal skills to consult with end users, colleagues and senior stakeholders.
• To work on the design, coding and styling of the front-end of the force website and intranet and other websites and services as required.
• To work, as directed by the Team Lead, to deliver an effective, high quality service to the organisation and all its customers. Research and resolve technical issues in a timely manner and follow up directly on recommendations and action plans to deliveran effective and efficient first class seamless IT service provision.
• To provide any required documentation to the prescribed standard for the IT Directorate and ensure any change in procedure and/or documentation is available to relevant parties at the earliest
• To work closely with the user experience team, in understanding aspects of a users journey, whilst working on the design of the forces digital channels.
• To ensure security measures are designed into existing and new interfaces ensuring integrity of the system, along with developing and testing all design work to ensure it meets accessibility guidelines and provide analysis of web usage.
• To maintain/enhance working knowledge of emerging technology and industry best practice, gaining knowledge and expertise through hand-on experience, self-study, and other agreed learning environments.
• To technically support the organisation and the IT infrastructure required to deliver and support the IT Directorate services and products to meet the needs of the force.
• To evaluate the effectiveness of existing processes and practices within own area of work in order to identify and implement opportunities for change and innovation and enable continuous improvement. Provides technical advice, guidance and support to managerswithin the organisation as well as defining standards for others to follow.
• To support the strategy of the IT Directorate contributing to the overall strategy and vison of the organisation.
• To research emerging technologies and tools and adapt to changes in the industry.

Experience and QualificationsESSENTIAL

• Experience of designing and developing websites
• Experience of building on top of a Content Management System, Such as WordPress and building Single Page Applications (SPA) from scratch. Also experience of one or more of the following: PHP, Node, View, React.
• Experience of and understanding of front-end technologies and HTML, CSS and JavaScript programming languages
• Experience of delivering a high quality service to customers and users An understanding of building accessible websites to latest industry standards
• Experience of using prototypes and wireframes to build and test new designs
• Experience of communicating both orally and in writing
