Job Description

Freight Forwarding Operations Manager - Bristol, United KingdomMy clientWith over 130 years experience, my client operates an extensive global logistics network, covering road, air, sea and rail across 1,200 locations in more than 50 countries. Delivering cargo across a global network via road, rail, sea, and air. From loose cartons for consolidation and palletised cargo to moving dangerous goods and bulk commodities, we have the experience, the infrastructure, and the global network to get freightmoving - across towns, across countries and across continents. The role We are looking for Freight Forwarding Operations Manager to join the Team based in Bristol. You will be reporting to the Branch Manager and the role will involve all aspects of freight forwarding with a focus on customer service and team management.Operational excellence with focus on servicing the client and supporting the team in the branch on a day-to-day basis is a key to this position. The ability to work as part of a team in a fast-paced environment is essential.In this role you will need:* Day to day management of Bristol operation, with all aspects of Operational, Financial, Facilities and Developmental Management in collaboration with Branch Manager* Involvement in preparation of annual budgets in collaboration with Finance and Branch Management and accountability for delivering through P&L and Commercial Management* To deal with all aspects of International and Domestic freight movements (Import, Export by Sea, Air and/or Land)* To ensure profitability of accounts is maximised and loss-making accounts are challenged and addressed* To conduct face to face meetings with all staff for appraisal process and hold ongoing discussions with open issues* To ensure all customer issues are resolved in a timely and professional manner* To negotiate contract rates in accordance with business needs to ensure that economies of scale are met, and best prices achieved for the Company and/or ClientAbout youTo be successful in this role, you will need: * Minimum of 5 years experience in freight forwarding environment or Multi-Modal position with current hands-on Team Management experience * Educated to GCSE standard (minimum of 5) * Ability and confidence to deal with customers on a daily basis, excellent telephone manner and ability to effectively communicate at all levels both internally and with clients * Ability to consistently meet deadlines in a timely manner* Day to day management of Bristol operation, with all aspects of Operational, Financial, Facilities and Developmental Management in collaboration with Branch Manager * Flexibility in a constantly changing environment * IT literate (ability to utilise MS Office tools such as Word, Excel, etc.) * Knowledge of Cargowise One Operating System would be an advantage * Effective organisational skills with significant focus on attention to detail Package* Up to £35000 plus car allowance at £4,500 plus benefits * 25 days holiday per year plus statutory 8 days * Contributory pension plus extra benefits
