Job Description

Our client, an innovative and award winning software business is seeking to recruit a Financial Controller as a result of exciting international growth.Working directly with the CEO, the Financial Controller will establish the businesses first inhouse finance function; helping to implement the correct policies, procedures and controls and to provide business support to the senior management team.In this hands-on position, your wide ranging duties will include ensuring compliance with regulations, day to day accounting operations, analysing financial data, monitoring expenditure, forecasting revenue, and ensuring accuracy of financial information. Your strategic planning and exceptional numerical proficiency will aid the organisation in maintaining positive revenue and financial growth, formulating sound financial strategies, implementing proper internal controls and developing financial plans that support organisational strategy. The US is a key market for the business and you will be responsible for all tax and compliance of a US subsidiary, engaging and working closely with local partners where needed. The ideal candidate should possess strong analytical skills, exceptional problem-solving skills, a flair for numbers, be highly organised, and have excellent communication skills. Whilst the business is headquartered in Bristol, flexible working arrangements are available with mainly home-based working 3 or 4 days per week if required, once restrictions are lifted.Key responsibilities

  • Management and improvement of our accounting systems and processes, including development of appropriate internal controls
  • Month, quarter and year end processes
  • Measurement of revenue-related KPIs
  • Cash flow management, including forecasting and budgeting
  • Strategic planning as we expand the company in the UK and the US
  • Compliance with government regulations and legislation
  • Financial control of their US subsidiary, working with accountancy and tax advisors in the US
  • Day to day accounting operations such as management of debtors and creditors
  • Required skills and experience
  • A qualified accountant with strong academics - ACA, CA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent
  • 5+ years relevant finance management experience
  • Experience of working within a small, growing business
  • Knowledge of US GAAP and UK GAAP
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • A team player with a flexible approach
