Job Description

Job Title: Finance Manager Location: Bristol, UK + Hybrid Working ArrangementCompensation: Competitive Salary + BenefitsRole Type: Full time / PermanentRole ID: SF52631At Babcock were working to create a safe and secure world, together, and if you join us, you can play your part as a Finance Manager at our Bristol site.The RoleAs a Finance Manager youll have a role thats out of the ordinary. Working as a part of Mission Systems business unit within the Marine Sector of Babcock International Group; working on a range of exciting design, manufacture and support projects, MissionSystems works with a number of key clients domestically and internationally.Day to day, youll be reporting directly to the Head of Finance, you will be responsible for the production of the monthly financial accounts and reporting requirements for Mission Systems Devonport contracts, as well as delivering an accurate and timelyfull business forecast created in collaboration with the operational teams.

  • You will be responsible for all of the reporting requirements for the business unit, including thorough analysis of results and regular reviewing of key variances vs budgets/forecasts for both project and overheads, maintaining high levels of engagementfrom the Heads of Business and Senior Finance team.
  • Youll also, be responsible for providing effective leadership and management to the local Finance team, ensuring high levels of employee wellbeing, engagement and output on a day-to-day basis as well as taking a key role in the local operational leadershipteam, providing financial insight, recommendations and constructive challenge to enable effective management of the business unit.
  • The role will be responsible for ensuring quality and accuracy of information is at the centre of all monthly, quarterly and ad-hoc reporting.
  • Successful operation of this role is highly dependent upon the individual being able to provide a collaborative and respectful level of management, as well as maintaining strong and collaborative working relationships across the wider business.
Essential Experience of the Finance Manager:
  • Understanding of accounting standards relevant to tendering overhead costs as well as revenue recognition.
  • An ability to apply your knowledge to be able to understand and clearly communicate effects to various business stakeholders.
  • Ideally, an understanding of the bespoke engineering manufacturing sector but, this is not essential
  • Experience of financial controls within a large business environment is desirable but, not essential.
  • Experience of IFS and/or SAP Business Planning & Consolidation is highly desirable but, not essential.
This is a full-time position that allows for you to work from home and our site in Bristol.Qualifications for the Finance Manager:
  • Professional finance qualification such as ACA, ACCA, ACMA, CIMA or equivalent / similar.
  • The successful candidate must be able to achieve SC security clearance for this role.
