Job Description

Position: Electrical Qualifying Supervisor Location: Covering South West Region Salary: £45,528Benefits: Company Van, Pension and private medical and 33 days holiday per year (including bank holidays). 10% ASDA Discount Card (you get this once you have passed your 12 week probation and there is certain items you can’t use it for)Role is Monday to Friday - Normal Daytime Hours, 40 hoursAn outstanding opportunity has arisen within a large and dynamic Facilities Management company, who continue to enjoy sustained growth with its impressive multi-site client base which includes a National Facilities contract for Asda.As a result of recent growth, we are now embarking on an important recruitment exercise for our client.JOB PURPOSE:To comply with NICEIC Registration (this is subject to the rules of the NICEIC Registration which is separate from this job description).Oversee electrical safety including but not exclusively the preparation and enforcement of City FM electrical safety procedures (including the process for live and dead working) and practice, promote and oversee the process for electrical installation andminor works certification, undertake a minimum 1% audit of minor works, assist to co-ordinate in-service inspection and testing of electrical equipment (PAT) including policy and procedures (including emergency lighting testing), provide a specialist supportto IST/ RES/ RE. SMT/DMT on electrical issues.Ensure all electrical test equipment is annually calibrated. To assist in the delivery of an effective electrical safety process and ensure City Facilities Management (UK) Ltd meets its statutory responsibilities and promote a safe working environment andsafe systems of work for employees, clients and those affected by our undertaking related to any electrical work.PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Have an understanding of, and day to day responsibility for, the health and safety and other statutory requirements relating to electrical work undertaken.
  • Ensuring there are safe systems of work in place whereby all electrical work undertaken is carried out by competent persons who are adequately supervised.
  • The appropriate prescribed forms of certification and reporting are issued and completed for all minor electrical work and installations.
  • Ensure electrical test equipment is calibrated annually, maintaining a register of test equipment, ensuring all minor electrical installation work is checked by qualified engineers and the readings recorded and all such paperwork maintained with a copyat each store and a central copy available for inspection.
  • Undertake scheduled audits and inspections of electrical work undertaken; this is likely to be a minimum of 1% of minor works carried out.
  • Brief out an electrical safety policy and practice guidelines for field engineers to follow.
  • Ensure as far as is reasonably practicable that not only legislative requirements are met but equally industry standards are observed.
  • Ensure electrical work undertaken by City FM engineers is fully compliant with current statutory obligations including the Electricity at Work Regulations 1989, Institute of Electrical Engineers Codes of practice and current electrical industry standards.
  • Maintain documentation and records appropriate to the range and scale of electrical work undertaken which shall include BS 7671 requirements for Electrical Installations (IEE Wiring Regulations), associated guidance material as prescribed by the NICEICand City FM, appropriate British Standard and other Industry Codes of Practice, prescribed forms of certification and reporting for the range of electrical work undertaken.
