Find your future with us.INTRODUCTION:Boeing Defence United Kingdom (BDUK) is recruiting for a DIRECTOR - FIXED WING. This position is responsible for logistics support and readiness for all fielded Boeing fixed wing aircraft; as well as intimate customer knowledge and relationships withUK customers.THE ROLE:The ideal candidate must establish and maintain a focused programme management culture and drive programme performance in order to achieve or exceed customer and business objectives and outcomes.The role requires management and leadership of first-level managers and Programme/Project Managers undertaking business and programme activities. The candidate must have excellent leadership skills in order to develop, motivate and support team members.An individual who can establish and maintain relationships and partnerships with customers, collaborators, peers and partners is critical.The candidate will be able to demonstrate the ability to influence the development and implementation of overall strategy and objectives and be able to understand and use the inter-relationships within the business to accelerate performance. The candidatemust support the wider BDUK, and where appropriate Boeing, leadership on long-range strategies, organizational goals, objectives and initiatives. They must support the BDUK budget development and the schedule and performance objectives in order to implementstrategic plans to meet Long Range Business Plans commitments and grow the Fixed Wing portfolio.RESPONSIBILITIES:Presents an integrated Boeing UK organization to align with the MoD Multi-mission Aircraft Support and Strategic Lift organizations and is responsible for the following activities:

  • Strategic direction and vision: Developing an integrated support strategy, vision and mission for the UK Fixed Wing to include the following: P-8 Aircraft Support Provider and Training Support Provider Programmes, P-8 Infrastructure. E7 Aircraft throughlife sustainment services, and C-17 Synthetic Training.
  • Programme Leadership: Leading the development and execution of Support Systems and Services for the UK Fixed Wing programmes. These services include ILS management, spares/repairs, support equipment, technical data, field service, training, LSA (logisticsupport analysis), aircraft modifications and other design support areas. Responsible for profit and loss and continuous cost/productivity improvement of support processes.
  • Customer intimacy / management: Provide primary interface accountability for Boeing UK fixed wing in service support capability. Customer interaction is at typically with OF-6 through to flag/general officers, and senior MoD personnel.
  • People leadership: Providing leadership to the Fixed Wing team direct reports – and a large, rapidly growing extended matrix across functions within and beyond BDUK supervisory structure(including Engineering, Supply Chain, Operations and Digital Servicesand Analytics).
  • Subcontractor management: Extensive and complex subcontractor management for each platform including relationships. Director Fixed Wing will interact with subcontractors at the Senior Managing Director level.
  • Business leader and business development: Capitalise on in-country business opportunities and assist BDUK in strengthening Boeing position as a UK company. Sustainment and growth of UK business through effective deployment of strategy, international supplierpartnerships and relationships with senior international customers.
  • Risk management: management of all risks for business area including performance, customer satisfaction, compliance risk, reputation risk, safety.
  • Other activity as directed by Managing Director
TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES:
  • Project & Programme Management - Extensive knowledge of Programme and Project Management theory, concepts and principles (e.g. risk and opportunity management, change management, critical path methodology, project scope and change management, resource estimatingand management lifecycle);
  • Integrated Business Acquisition Processes - Extensive and specialized knowledge of Boeing or equivalent industry recognised Integrated Business Acquisition Process and theory;
  • MOD’s Acquisition Process – Sound knowledge of UK MOD’s acquisition processes, policies, procedures and practices;
  • Analytical Skills - Skill and ability to collect, organize, synthesize, and analyse data; summarize findings and develop solutions to complex problems conclusions;
  • Commercial Awareness - Knowledge of contract structure, to draft and document unique and complex proposals and agreements in a form that meets business requirements and knowledge of negotiation and contracting processes(es); and
  • Financial Acumen – Knowledge of finance and budgeting including estimate to budget baseline and Estimate At Completion (EAC) process(es.)
