Job Description

Construction Materials Technician Apprentice - VinciAs an Apprentice Materials Technician youll be working out of the Precast facility in Avonmouth, Bristol, supporting the HS2 project by ensuring the quality of concrete segments used on the tunnels.This is a laboratory role, but not as you know it! Be prepared to get mucky as you get to know your materials. This wont be a sterile environment and requires someone whos not afraid to get stuck in.Through training and development provided, youll work towards excellence in the following areas:

  • Working alongside other team members, testing the properties of fresh & hardened concrete, alongside concrete aggregates
  • Undertaking maturity testing to predict concrete strengths
  • Following testing methods to ensure safety and quality and to support the lab in maintaining its accreditation to operate
  • Undertaking laboratory calibration and maintaining equipment to required standards as required by the Laboratory Manager
The successful applicants can expect full training and support to provide competency and responsibility in carrying out testing and to help develop a career in laboratory testing.   • Starting salary of £19,760
  • Workings hours are 40 hours per week (plus weekend overtime where needed. Shift work may be a requirement)
