Job Description

This role is based in Bristol and sits with an international, car leasing business. The business is well established and has grown consistently through acquisitions and strategic partnerships. DescriptionThis role is based in Bristol* and involves:*Whilst this role is listed as Bristol based, flexible working can be offered, candidates located outside of Bristol will be considered*

  • Oversee, support and supervise (as line manager) a team of consumer credit and regulatory advisors
  • Support all areas of the business by providing specialist advice on consumer credit law and FCA regulation.
  • Advise the business and (working with the Compliance Monitoring team) help to identify and manage possible consumer credit and regulatory compliance risks and issues.
  • Provide specialist advice and support in respect of all compliance matters including SMCR processes, compliance incidents, customer documentation, financial promotions and customer communications.
  • Maintain Legal & Regulatory Watch.
  • Summary of Responsibilities
  • Oversee, support and supervise a team of consumer credit and regulatory advisors in their work and act as their line manager.
  • Develop others in the department by ensuring their involvement in matters and providing training and guidance
  • Provide advice in response to consumer credit/ regulatory queries from other parts of the business as they arise.
  • Proactively identify potential consumer credit and compliance risks and issues and advise on how to deal with them.
  • Where necessary, draft instructions to external lawyers to advise on consumer credit and regulatory matters.
  • Provide specialist advice and support to the business in respect of the regulated product lifecycle including product development, distribution/sales channel, customer documentation and customer journey.
  • Maintain a sign off process for regulated agreements (including associated documentation) and customer journeys by which an appropriate member of the Compliance Team should provide approval before any such agreements and/or journeys are set live.
  • In collaboration with the relevant business areas ensure all regulated agreements and associated documentation, processes, communications and financial promotions are compliant with consumer credit law and FCA regulation.
  • In collaboration with the relevant business areas, work to achieve continuous improvement of regulated agreements to ensure customer needs are met.
  • Manage the library of regulated agreement templates, to ensure that they are compliant with legal and regulatory requirements. Oversee the Document Transformation project with a view to streamlining the production and testing of regulated agreement templates. Provide advice to support the documentation requirements of in-life regulated variation agreements and associated documentation amendments.
  • Provide specialist advice and support to the business in respect of relationships with intermediaries (brokers, dealers and partners)
  • Provide input on regulatory aspects of commercial agreements at the request of the Legal Team.
  • Support and advise the Complaints team and Legal team in respect of customer complaints and claims where required.
  • Ensure any changes in legislation or FCA rules relating to consumer credit agreements are fed into the Legal Watch process.
  • Provide specialist advice and support to the business on SMCR processes and obligations.
  • Maintain a list of compliance incidents and prepare reports on any compliance incidents and/or projects for use internally within the business.
  • Ensure all regulatory reporting requirements to the FCA are managed and delivered in full and on time
  • Profile
  • Specialist in consumer credit legislation and regulation
  • Excellent knowledge and experience of consumer credit law and relevant FCA regulation (CONC etc)
  • An excellent communicator: face to face, telephone, e-mail, report writing
  • Able to work autonomously and lead others
  • Good standard in IT literacy with particular focus on Microsoft Word
  • Good time management & organisation
  • High levels of professionalism and stakeholder management
