You can be proud to join a company who work to ensure everyone can have clean, affordable energy, well into the future.An opportunity has arisen for a Civil CAD Technician in the South West Engineering Design Services Team, based in Bristol. The team is responsible for the design and production of technical drawings to support delivery of the 33kV to 132kV projects programmefor the South West distribution network area. These projects are predominantly driven by new connections, reinforcement of the network or asset replacement of existing plant. The Engineering Design Services team handle multiple active design commissions atany time ranging in capital value from £50k to £10m.This is a temporary contract intially for 6 months, but its a good opportunity to get your foot in the door with a large organisation with the opportunity to apply for permanent positions/internal roles. Excellent hourly rate, holiday entitlement risingto 26 days + bank holidays after 12 weeks, free parking!The team assists design and network colleagues with the preparation of initial concept options and then develops the sanctioned projects from a broad engineering brief into a fully specified build package for delivery via internal and external constructionteams.As a Civil CAD Technician you will be working alongside experienced Civil Design Engineers who have years of knowledge and experience within the team to offer guidance and support. The role presents the opportunity to work on technically complex and challengingprojects within the South West electricity distribution network.Main Responsibilities

• Work alongside EDS team members and project delivery teams to produce substation plans and technical civil drawings for project delivery
• Make changes to existing designs as directed by EDS team members
• Independently work and manage timescales against project programmes
• Site visits to operational electrical substations for site surveys & design meetings
• Checking of fabrication drawings from specialist sub-contractors
• Respond promptly to queries arising from site during construction of projects
• Ensuring compliance of design output with relevant policy
• As the project programme develops there may be a requirement to assist with designs beyond the civil discipline but full support will be given

Candidate Requirements for the role of Civil CAD Technician

• It isessentialthe candidate is experienced, knowledgeable and capable in the use of Autodesk AutoCAD to produce high quality, 2D technical drawings
• Qualified to HNC level in an appropriate engineering discipline would be advantageous, but not essential
• Experience of producing technical civil design drawings ready for construction purposes
• The ability to manage multiple diverse projects simultaneously
• The ability to develop good working relationships within a multi-disciplined internal design team
• Good attention to detail and ability to work autonomously
• Applicants should hold a full driving license
