We are looking for great people to join us, so please come and invest in YOUR future at Hargreaves Lansdown.About the roleAn exciting opportunity for a Business Risk and Control Manager to join a fast-growing team within a FTSE100 leading investment firm. You will have the opportunity to shape and develop our Senior Manager Certification Regime (SMCR) frameworks, ensuring thatappropriate controls are in place in the 1st Line of Defence to support each of the HL Senior Management Frameworks (SMF) in their roles. As the Business Risk and Control Manager you will have the opportunity to work closely with each SMF to provide them with an assessment "on demand" of how their Statement of Responsibilities (SOR) are being executed across the firm. You will consider risk throughthe lens of the SMCR framework to support SMFs in their "Reasonable Steps".What youll be doing

  • Partner with the Head of SMCR to translate the group framework and standards into operational activities
  • To consider all 1st LoD risk issues through the lens of SMCR, identifying how they pertain to SMFs and their SORs
  • To develop a suite of MI reports that allows each SMF to demonstrate effective execution of their SMFs, and to identify emerging or existing gaps
  • Embed an effective and proportionate set of 1st Line Risk Controls and work with Chief Controls Officer to support 1st Line Control Testing and Assurance for SMCR activity
  • Ensure all risks and controls against each SOR are housed in Metricstream
  • Support ongoing Risk Register maintenance, RCSAs and control assurance work
  • Support Compliance Monitoring, Internal Audit and any external reviews as they arise
  • To provide high standards of record-keeping, decision-logs and advice to/from each SMF in an organised and acceptable manner
About you
  • Strong understanding of SMCR framework and regulations within a Financial Services organisation
  • Good understanding of risk management methodologies and able to work successful in a 1st Line of Defence role
  • To be able to present complex information in simple context, adapting your style to suit your audience
  • Accomplished in forging effective relationships with all levels of stakeholder, skilled at influencing, negotiating and managing challenging conversations with ease
  • Effectively collaborate to achieve common goals plus the ability to self-manage competing workloads & effectively prioritise
  • Suitable experience of a funds and platforms business, preferably with an understanding of fund and service operations
  • Confidence to clearly signpost potential or actual issues to HL SMFs and ensure these are being actioned by the SMFs themselves where required
