Job summaryWe are Defence Equipment and Support (DE&S). We manage a vast range of projects to supply and maintain vital equipment and services for the Royal Navy, British Army and Royal Air Force. You could support on a range of fascinating equipment, and their supportingkit, from Apache, Merlin and Wildcat helicopters to remotely piloted aircraft, intelligence and reconnaissance systems, and military pilot training vehicles.You will assist in the development of these exciting and innovative projects as these enhanced capabilities are fielded with our Armed Forces. You will have the chance to work across a broad spectrum of interesting and challenging engineering and environmentalissues, with equipment that is at the forefront of technology.Our teams are currently delivering battle-winning solutions "at pace" and to reinforce these teams, we are looking for people with relevant experience in either mechanical systems, structures, propulsion, electronics, avionics, power systems, Aircraft certification,release to service, weapons integration, software, and/or support equipment applicable to the air environment.This is a nationwide campaign with primary locations in:

  • MOD Abbey Wood, Filton, Bristol BS34 8JH
  • RAF Waddington, Lincoln, Lincolnshire, LN5 9NB
  • Leonardo Helicopters, Yeovil, Somerset BA20 2YB
Please note: the teams that we support are based throughout the UK, and other locations may be available across the MOD estate. We will notify all successful candidates of any updates to our location availability.   • Managing the delivery of all engineering aspects in your area of responsibility, as defined in the assignment specification or objectives, including managing the acquisition safety aspects.
  • Providing subject matter advice and guidance, in your own technical area, to resolve technical problems and identify application risks
  • Monitoring and implementing any governance and assurance policies and procedures to ensure the safe & professional’ status for your area of responsibility
  • Contributing to the development of requirements related to your area of specialism, including acceptance plans, performance criteria and draft specifications, or managing the technical requirements for the acquisition life cycle stage of a project, program,service, or system.
  • Producing and contributing to Engineering Management Plans
  • Interfacing with industry as the intelligent customer, both in a scrutiny role and supporting the identification of application risks
Person specificationTo be successful with your application, youll need to show that you meet the following essential criteria:
  • You will hold a minimum of a Level 4 (e.g. HNC) qualification in a relevant engineering-related subject or can demonstrate equivalent experience from within the aerospace industry
  • You will have experience of working within an aviation/aerospace environment as part of an Aviation Acquisition project, with experience of working across a wide stakeholder community
  • You will have experience in the development of Engineering Assurance and Governance tools and processes
  • You will have experience of providing technical advice and leading the delivery of successful engineering outcomes
In addition to the responsibilities above, the following technical competences and behaviours will be assessed at interview:
