Job Description

Primary DetailsTime Type: Full time Worker Type: Employee Assistant Underwriter - Property & Casualty Following sustained and continued growth we have a newly created role for an Assistant Underwriter to join our Bristol Office. Part of our growing, successful specialist contractors combined DUA facility youll support Property and Casualty underwriting acrossa broad range of sectors for UK clients. Your role will support the team in underwriting business in accordance with the business plan and within delegated underwriting authority. Providing full support and training from experienced colleagues this is a greatopportunity to either continue or start your underwriting career! Your new role

  • To provide efficient and effective, technical and general Underwriting support to the team
  • Awareness and understanding of the annual business plan for the respective business unit
  • Comply with all legal and regulatory requirements to ensure obligations are met
  • Adhere to underwriting standards and good practice to minimize risk and maximize efficiency inline with process control time frame
  • Contribute to recording and measurement of insurance risks to ensure accuracy, good practice and adherence to relevant performance standards (as prescribed by quality review process
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including colleagues, extended service team, customers and brokers to be able to work collaboratively and effectively
  • Ensure accurate underwriting data is captured on systems to minimize risk and ensure high quality output of information
  • Complete foundation Underwriting tasks in support of Senior Members of the team
  • Prepare documents to ensure that appropriate records are established and accuracy of records is maintained
  • Conduct research and prepare reports and back up information to support the team to assist the business planning process
  • Assist with the production of management information statistics and reports to support the business planning process
  • Work within the underwriting team to deliver the agreed strategy and professional service at all times
About You
  • Experience within the insurance industry, preferably commercial, whether thats underwriting, claims, operational or related areas
  • Clear organisational and prioritisation skills coupled with good analytical and interpersonal skills.
  • Problem solving skills - demonstrates tenacity in handling and resolving queries
  • Intermediate level understanding of relevant software, including Excel and other departmental software packages
