Job Description

As part of our clients continuous growth they are seeking to employ an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join there energetic and experienced team.The successful candidate will be required to assist with a series of refurbishment projects for our client: a growing construction company with a variety of projects across both the private and public sector. You will be working for an innovative, modernand forward-thinking business and joining a dedicated and dynamic team.ContractFull time (with probation period). Location South-West, ideally Bristol based. Willing to travel and work away from home when required.ProfileMotivated, with the ability to work independently, with a minimum of a degree in Quantity Surveying or similar and have previous workplace experience in a commercially focused environment.SkillsSurvey, scope and specify, estimate, procure and co-ordinate work streams with the guidance of our management team.

  • Fully IT literate in MS office including Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and Word
  • The candidate must hold a valid driving license
  • Able to travel at short notice
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
  • Strong attention to detail and numeracy skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
QualificationsIn addition to two years of up-to-date knowledge and experience in construction you will preferably hold a relevant degree.ExperienceReporting to the Quantity Surveyor and Head of Major Projects, you will have proven experience as a successful Assistant Quantity Surveyor with experience in the refurbishment sector.Key ResponsibilitiesAs an Assistant Quantity Surveyor, you will be supporting the project team in all commercial matters, liaising with site teams, taking the lead with contract administration and procurement activities. You will be responsible for sending out sub-contracttender opportunities, evaluation of tender returns, placing and managing packages, feed into the wider procurement team, and ensure the timely submission of valuations. A key part of this progressive role will be assisting with; internal valuations and VCRactivities, preparing accurate and timely monthly valuation reports and organising the procurement and management of subcontract packages.IMPORTANT:*Any suitable candidates will be required to carry out a short MS Teams call with us, where they will be asked 5 key questions (which will be given to them prior to the virtual interview).
