As long as youre curious and passionate about technology, then we can teach you the restOur Software Development Apprenticeship Pathway is an opportunity to develop software and the way we do that will help underpin our technology transformation. Our Software Development Apprentices are key to helping us connect with our customers(internal and external) in a secure, reliable and engaging experience.Our roles in this area include:Software Engineer (Bristol, Norwich, Perth & York) - our Software Engineers develop software for a wider range of our applications. They work to create new products and platforms as well as maintaining and enhancing our existing applications.If you choose this route, you will work collaboratively in small teams to build high quality solutions that meet our customers needs: whether delivering technology change internally or producing innovative digital tech like the award winning "My Aviva" customerportal.Your Apprenticeship will be a 48-month programme where youll spend 80% of your time gaining real hands-on experience in the role and 20% dedicated to your Degree Apprenticeship studies with a National Training Provider supporting your accredited qualification(a Level 6 Apprenticeship in England or Graduate Apprentice in Scotland).Whatever role you go into, youll be working on interesting and challenging initiatives alongside a community of highly skilled and experienced technology professionals who will be on hand to support and encourage you every step of the way.Where youll be based:We offer these Apprentice roles in our Bristol, Norwich, Perth and York office.At Aviva we ask our teams to think about when they work in the office and when they work at home. This will vary depending on your role. We call this SMART working.About you To join us in these roles you will:
  • Have at least five GCSEs or Scottish National 5s at A*-C or 9-4 grade (or equivalent), including English and Maths
  • Have, or be on track for at least three A-Levels at grades B, C, C or above (England) OR four Highers at grades B,B,B,C or above (Scotland) OR equivalent. If one of these subjects is in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Maths) subject thats great,but it is not a requirement!
  • Have an understanding or experience of coding, whether through your studies or as an outside passion.
Youll also be a confident communicator with strong analytical skills, a love of learning and a commitment to continuallydeveloping yourself. Youre someone who can be a force for change and wholl be able to show us how youve helped to change things forthe better in your studies, your work experience or your outside interests.What will you get for this role
  • Starting salary from £21,500 (depending on your skills, experience and qualifications) plus paid time to study

The recruitment process: Well assess your strengths as well as looking at how well you connect with our values throughout the process.The process itself involves:
  • Making an online application - this will include answering a short questionnaire and attaching your CV
  • If you pass the initial CV screen, youll be sent some online tests
  • Pass these, and youll have a telephone interview
  • And if you do well in these, theres an assessment day
