Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate 1:1 SENTA to work with a child in Year 5 with Downs Syndrome at a school located in central Bristol. The successful candidate will be working on a full-time, long-term basis until the end of the academic year. Thehours of work are 8:30am-3:30pm.Responsibilities include:

  • Providing one-on-one support to the child with Downs Syndrome, in and out of the classroom
  • Supporting the childs learning and development
  • Implementing behaviour management strategies as needed
  • Collaborating with the childs teacher and other professionals to provide the best possible education for the child
  • Keeping detailed records of the childs progress and providing regular updates to the childs parents and the schools management team
Requirements:
  • Experience working with children with special needs, particularly children with Downs Syndrome
  • A positive and patient attitude towards children with special needs
  • Team Teach training is desired but not mandatory, as Prospero Teaching can provide the training if necessary.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and establish positive relationships with parents, carers and other professionals
To be eligible for this role through Prospero Teaching, you must:
  • Hold Right to Work in the UK
  • Hold an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service or be willing to process a new application
  • Provide two professional child related references
