Job Description

Our client is a well-established global manufacturer and distributor of non-automotive specialist engineered assemblies.They currently have a genuine career opportunity for an experienced Warehouse & Logistics Manager to join their team at their site in the Midlands (DY6).Reporting to the site Operations Director you will lead a team of around 30 colleagues managing processes and systems to ensure goods are received and dispatched appropriately.Principal duties are -

  • To oversee and manage overall warehouse and logistics operations to maximize output and efficiency
  • Collaborate with multiple-functional managers to plan and execute on the development of a distribution centre operational process to enable seamless transfers
  • Obtain and evaluate quotations, negotiate prices, terms & conditions and contracts
  • Coordinate and monitor the receipt, order, assembly and dispatch of goods
  • Management and coordination of the group transport team and knowledge and understanding of import/export of materials, associated documentation etc.
  • Manage effectively, anticipate & resolve transport disruptions.
  • Use space and mechanical handling equipment efficiently, ensuring quality, budgetary targets and environmental objectives are met
  • Keep stock control systems, including the planning of future capacity requirements, up to date and make sure inventories are accurate
  • Evaluate, recommend and manage ongoing relationships with transport providers
  • Motivate, organize and encourage teamwork within the workforce to ensure productivity targets are met or exceeded
  • Continual focus on cost saving activities
  • Measurement of supplier performance & generate metrics
  • Produce regular reports and statistics/KPIs on a daily, weekly and monthly basis
  • Maintain standards of health & safety, hygiene and security in the work environment
  • Oversee the planned maintenance of vehicles, machinery and equipment
  • Carry out other warehouse/logistics responsibilities in accordance with the business needs
  • Candidates will be suitably qualified with experience of Warehouse Management within a manufacturing environment plus knowledge of MRP systems, import and export documentation, health and safety and of course people management.Hours of work - days only - 38 hours per week (Monday to Friday no weekends).Salary levels are negotiable in a band £38 - £42,000 depending on experience - to apply please send your CV details to Gary Simpson Required skills
