Job Description

Housing Interventions Worker – Full Time, Permanent – Bridgend Hybrid Working (Community/Custody) – 35 hours per week - £26,339.00 per annum.Benefits:

Our services have made a significant impact, enabling individuals to make positivetransformations, find employment, establish strong relationships, and become active members of their communities.As a Housing Interventions Worker for the Camau Service, you will play a vital role in delivering comprehensive and effective housing-focused interventions to enhance housing options and prevent homelessness among individuals who have been allocated a RehabilitationActivity Requirement as part of their Community Supervision Licence or Post Sentence Supervision. Working alongside the Camau Service Manager and Team Leaders, you will be an instrumental part of our mission to ensure a holistic and safe service is providedto our clients while meeting individual and team targets outlined by the Service Manager.Key Responsibilities - Housing Interventions Worker:
  • Collaborate with Probation and Prison establishments to improve housing options and address urgent housing priorities for individuals referred to the service.
  • Deliver 1-2-1 and group housing interventions, offering training sessions on finding accommodation, managing and sustaining housing, moving on, and being responsible tenants.
  • Actively engage with team objectives to achieve strategic targets and project-specific outcomes.
  • Cultivate strong relationships with colleagues, utilizing support offered by Line Management and Head Office functions.
  • Liaise with landlords to arrange viewings, negotiate rent amounts and terms, and facilitate tenancy agreements.
  • Assist individuals in identifying suitable affordable properties in the private rented sector, such as shared houses, Houses of Multiple Occupation, studios, and one-bedroom accommodations.
  • Maintain regular contact with local authority housing support teams, housing portals, Registered Social Landlords, Local Authority Support Staff, landlords, agents, and charitable organizations providing accommodation options in the region.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with accommodation providers, landlords, and agents accepting individuals claiming Universal Credit and Housing Benefit.
  • Ensure all properties meet health and safety, property standards, and legal requirements, including health and safety checks, energy performance certificates, smoking and carbon monoxide monitors, and gas safety certificates.
Requirements -Housing Interventions Worker:
  • Possess a good knowledge of the Housing and Welfare Benefits system.
  • Previous experience providing advice services on welfare benefits and housing/re-housing to clients.
  • Experience in assessing adults in need of housing and social support or substance misuse assistance.
  • Proficiency in constructing support plans for clients requiring housing support to maintain their tenancy.
  • Thorough understanding of the needs of clients in abstinence-based recovery, experiencing homelessness, or with other complex needs.
  • Demonstrated effectiveness in working with adults facing multiple disadvantages, such as unemployment, homelessness, mental ill health, and substance use.
